parents that have travelled with their toddlers
So Alia turned 2 in August but when we go to Europe in the end of April, she will be and a few months. We have to buy her a ticket because my husband won two tickets so that's settled.
will the airline check her age? can we get away with buying an infant ticket?
TIA

Yes they do check.... For domestic travel, you need to bring a birth certificate. For international travel, I'm sure she'll need a passport. The last time we came to NY they asked us for Nate's birth certificate bc the agent wanted to verify that he was under 2 yrs old.
I never heard of an infant fare at least on Southwest or American, which is what we've flown the last few times. It's usually the same price as adult fare, but other airlines could be different.

so most likely we will have to buy her a ticket for a child which is more money too.

On British Airways you have to pay for 10% of the adult ticket and taxes on top of that. Thats what I paid when we fly BA from Manchester to NY.

You are going to have to buy her a ticket and make sure you all have passports. I know they check if they are walking and talking
