Parents who delayed MMR
What age did you delay it to? 18 months or 2 years? Did your PMD give you a hard time about it. My DC 15 month appt is this week and I was going to tell her I want to delay when I go in..should I give advance notice? Thanks

Re: Parents who delayed MMR
We are waiting until at least 3 years old. Our ped never gave us a hard time. He said it was a personal decision that we have the right to make as parents.
I don't think it's necessary to give advanced notice about your decision. You'd still have the appointment; it's not as if you are just going there to get this one shot.

Re: Parents who delayed MMR
I delayed the MMR until my son was 2 My pediatrician was very supportive. The only place that gave us a hard tiem was his daycare.

Re: Parents who delayed MMR
I gave it to Andrew at his 21 month visit. He is entering preschool in Sept so I wanted to catch him up slowly so I started now. Plus I am going on a cruise so looking back I am glad I did it when I did.

Re: Parents who delayed MMR
I'd like to delay until after he is four if possible and if I do split the shot up will give him the measles portion last.

DD will be getting it just a few months before she is 3. Even then I'm not thrilled but she needs it for preschool.

I gave it to Ds at 18 months and did not split them up. He was fine after the shot!

Re: Parents who delayed MMR
My boys are 18 months and will probably give it at 2 years...my PED did NOT have a problem with it, in fact recommneded only giving them one shot at a time....meaning only the chicken pox, and then the MMR, not splitting up the MMR shot itself.

Re: Parents who delayed MMR
Is there a reason so many of you have chosen to delay it until after 3? I had planned on delaying it as well until 2 while still splitting it up.
