Parents with December-Early January Babies

What do you do as far as DCs birthday and holiday gifts?

DS has a birthday in early December and we celebrate Christmas. He got so many presents for his birthday and we have more for Christmas. I have some of his birthday presents put away and figure we'll bring them out little by little, and probably the same with some Christmas stuff. But next year of the year after, he's going to be aware of them, and I probably can't stash them and spread them out.

But I am thinking next year or the year after maybe we should do something special as a family for his birthday depending on his interests like go to the circus, a children's play etc. It just seems like so many toys in one month.

So those who have DC born close to the holidays, do you do something a bit different than buy toys?

that's exactly what we do.

12/18 is his b-day.
Last year we went to the mountains overnight, went on the polar express.

this year back to the mountains for tubing.

Ooo, this sounds fun. Or maybe when he gets older skiing (though may need to wait for January unless snow is great). I hope he likes skiing anyway, DH and I love it.

Which mountains do you go to?

Re: Parents with December-Early January Babies

My birthday is 1/5 and I always remember getting gifts for my birthday and Hanukkah.

My DC birthday is 12/30. This is their first birthday, so we haven't thought too much about what we will do when they get older, but I do like the idea of taking them to do something special each year.

DD was born on Jan. 6th. We get her some gifts for Christmas and some for her birthday. I have a Dec. 26th birthday so I know what it feels like to get gipped. I try to overcompensateChat Icon

Re: Parents with December-Early January Babies

my brother was born 12/17.. my mother always tried to do alittle less for his and even my birthday (11/8) and would find other "events" throughout the year to compensate.... such as easter, the last day of school etc....

DS will be one on 12/23. We got him a birthday present (wheely bug) and Hanukkah presents. I want his birthday to be totally separate from the holidays.

Re: Parents with December-Early January Babies

My DD was born 12/23 and we had her birthday party in the beginning of the month. she will only be one this year, so I am able to put away a lot of her toys for next year so that she doesn't get sick of them too quickly. She actually got a ton of clothes for her birthday, which was great!!
