DD#2 gets bulging eardrums but never complains and meds always cleared them up.

DD #1 on the other hand never gets them. DD was sick last week and we were told to bring her back Sat if she still had a fever. We did and she had started the night before saying one ear was clogged. Well they said she had blisters on her eardrums and bulging in both ears. I had suspected she might have a sinus infection bc she had daily headaches after having mono and so the antiobiotic they gave covered both. She was not saying her ear hurt at that time.

Today the school called. She is complaining that she can barely hear out of one ear, that it is stuffy feeling and really hurts. Nurse said she is fever free. I went and offered to either give her motrin or take her home. I gave her motrin and a drink. She did not want to come home so they were happy to keep her. She still has some bloody discharge from her nose which the nurse said might be from an infection.

Could she have another infection? She has not complained of ear stuffiness since Tuesday. She is on antibiotics until Monday. Her peds office said they have a ridiculous amount of patients today and only put her in with the PA at like 745 tonight. I do not like the PA. So would you wait until tomorrow morning ewhen they can get her in or hit pm peds tonight? Is it normal to start complaining of pain now when she didn't before?

Me

parents with ear infection experience.

She may just need a decongestant if it's feeling full and stuffy. Maybe call ped and see if he recommends an OTC. My DD ALWAYS 110% of time get fever with ear infections

I would take her in tonight if she has pain because it could be a long night for you otherwise. I had them a lot when I was young and a couple of times as an adult and they are quite painful.

It could still be an infection - it sounds like the fluid she had in her ear last week didn't completely drain.

Thank you. I wasn't sure if it hasn't diappeared or it is back. She wasn't complaining of pain before which is why I wasChat Icon She wants to go to school with 104 so the fact she was crying and wanted to stay doesn't say to me that she isn't in a lot of pain. The nurse and the teacher were laughing that they have never seen a kid cry bc she didn't want to leave. They are usually crying to go home.

She hass been tortured so much by doctors recently (she has been sick almost on and off since mid Oct) I worry she will tell me she is okay so I won't take her back.

Unfortuntely last time she had a minor infection with no meds she had no fever we were there for something else. My DD#2 has double bulging eardrums the ped says she should be crying in pain and no fever wants no meds (ped says she has a tolerance through the roof). We found them on well visits or when we were there for something else they were always surprised.

DD #1 has a lot of allergies so she is often stuffy nose but her ears are never an issue. Ped won't give me anything told me to bring her in. She normally takes allegra or benadryl. Those might make her tight she needs something to drain her.

My little one was had 3 ear infections all back to back almost. Her issue was that she would get a runny nose and it would drain right into her ear. Most times, she didn't have a fever, but she wouldn't drink her bottle so I knew I needed to take her in.

I would try Benedryl and also maybe see if you can get her to sleep elevated.

She is 5 so she sleeps with pillows so I gave her an extra to prop her some. We have a humidifier on her. Her nose is not really running though so I was concerned benadryl would make her tight. It only drains a little pink and on off like 2 mins here than not for a few hours type of drip.

Taking her to the ped this morning.
