Parking at Hicksville train station...
I'll be leaving from there around 3:45pm on Friday afternoon. Parking shouldn't be a problem right?

You need a sticker until 7pm during the week at the Hicksville parking lots. But check with the town. There are private lots. So don't confuse them with the LIRR parking lots. Make sure not to park there without paying. DH's friend did and got his car towed at 4pm.

I USED to go to school in the afternoons. I would wait for the construction workers that came home around 2:30ish and take their spots. I gambled (MANY) times that I wouldn't get a ticket and never had a problem. I figured the meter maids would be out in the AM, not at 2:30-3pm. I checked the schedule from Penn and made sure I was there for the incoming trains.
There is parking on the street, but you have to walk a bit.
