Party Food Ideas...

I'm throwing DH a 30th Bday party with our friends only next month. We'll hang out our house, drink, eat and then hit up a bar or two in the city. Kinda lame, but that's what he wants.

I'm trying to figure out what I should serve. He did the same for me and he had heroes, then had my mom and some close friends make food like baked Ziti, meatballs, pasta salad, and some other things.

I wanted to do something a little different. I'm thinking mac&cheese, chicken tenders, swedish meatballs. Comfort type foods. It will be about 20-30 ppl.

I'm trying to keep it easy on me and not too expensive, while being a little different from the norm that we have. Do you think these are good choices? Any other ideas?

What about sliders, like mini-hamburgers?

You could do a chili bar... make one or two different batches of chili and then you have all the different types of toppings to put on it (cheese, scallions, crushed up tortilla chips, etc.)

You could also do a mashed potato food, that goes with chicken tenders. Make one or two different kinds of mashed potatoes and then have toppings like cheese, sour cream, broccoli bits, bacon bits, olives, etc.

Or you could even do a taco bar. Taco meat and then have tortilla chips/scoops, salsa, guacamole, shredded cheese, shredded lettuce, jalapenos, olives, sour cream, beans, corn, etc.

I like the taco bar idea..maybe do a mexican theme..and have nachos with salsa/guac, fajitas, quesadillas
