Party with loud music
When do you think its ok to bring your baby to a party with loud music?
My cousin's sweet 16 is in October, dd will be 7 months old, and I know my cousin would LOVE for her to be there but I am still not too happy about how loud the music will be.. Any thoughts?

Re: Party with loud music
I personally am a nervous freak about that kind of stuff, so I wouldn't take a 7 month old. Heck, I probably still wouldn't take my 13 month old. I admitted it already, I'm a paranoid freak!
Is there a way you can bring her for a few minutes before the music starts, or a few minutes before the party starts for your cousin to see the baby, and then either run her home or have someone else take her home? That would be a good option.

Re: Party with loud music
For Gary's first wedding he told us we could bring Christopher. He was only 4 months and for the reason of the music we chose not to and I am glad we did. We did take him to a party with music but I am not sure how old he was. I remember us saying it was too loud though and we shouldn't have brought him.
I haven't even thought about if we are going to bring Tyler to the Sweet 16. I'll have to talk to Chris and let you know. It's hard b/c I want him there but I know its going to be so freakin loud.

I wish I could do this but I live pretty far away from where the party is.

Re: Party with loud music
Please don't see me as a bad mom...but I took my DS to his Grandma's 80th birthday yesterday... and the music was loud..he slept most of the time there (he sleeps better with noise, maybe because I listened to a lot of music when I was pregnant).
I did sit at the farthest table from the speakers. DS is 4 months old.
I come from a big family with big functions where there was always infants there...so we didn't think twice about it.

ITA I see nothign wrong with it. And I don't tink you area bad mom, I think the opposite, it makes you a great mom to expose you rchild to as many family functons as possible.

Thank you...I was a little scared to post that...I mean I know that I would never do anything to harm my child but sometimes I read posts of the protective stuff moms do and wonder ... Am I bad that I didn't do that?
I know each mom and child is different but he's my first so as a new mother I doubt/question everything I do.
So thanks again...its nice to hear that I wasn't wrong.
Of course...for those that disagree and want to wait longer... there is nothing wrong with that either...we are moms and our instincts tell us what's best for our children.
