Passport Renewal (not travel)
We are renewing our passport but they are asking for our original marriage liscence. Is this right? Did anyone else have to send it in and how long did it take you to get it back???

When I changed my name after I got married, I had to send the original marriage license. I got it back with my new passport - about 2 weeks (I had to rush my passport)

I have been trying to in contact with someone for about a week now..I had to send my marriage certificate for name change reasons. I sentmy passport along with MC on May 1, 2007 and have not received it back yet..I try to follow up on the website and nothing...I call and just a recording! Good Luck!

I didn't want to send my original certificate (in case I never got it back) so I went to Town Hall and got another one.

I understand it's taking longer than usual to receive passports back due to the large of volume of applications they've received since the new passport policies have gone into effect.

I requested a copy of my marriage certificate so that I could mail it in with my passport paperwork. I didn't want it getting lost in the mail.
