past LEEP procedure and pregnancy
I was wondering if any of you ladies have dealt with this, or are dealing with this now...how exactly does a past LEEP procedure affect your pregnancy?
I had it done 4 years ago, and am ttc now.
Are you considered high risk if you've had it done?? (I really want to go with a midwife when I am pg) . Do you have to get more internal sonos because of it? Anything else that is done differently than a normal pregnancy would be handled?? I'm just not sure what to expect.

Re: past LEEP procedure and pregnancy
I'm dealing with this issue. I had a leep 7 years ago. During the procedure they remove a piece of your cervix. This sometimes leads to an incompetent cervix which basically means that as the baby gets bigger it may cause the cervix to weaken or shorten. I just had my first high risk appt. I have to go every 2 wks to have transvaginal to measure my cervix. As long as it stays the length it is now, I'll be fine and after 24 wks will just go for monthly measurements. If it shortens then I will need to have it stitched closed. You see high risk as a precaution. HTH

Re: past LEEP procedure and pregnancy
I had a LEEP done a year and a half before getting pregnant. I think after 7 years your cervix should be pretty much as strong as it was before the LEEP, so I doubt you will have any issues with it... but you never know. For me, since it was so recent, I was seeing a perinatologist along with my OB, and they were keeping a close eye on my cervix for the first 22 weeks. (they said if my cervix was going to have problems then they would show in this time frame) I had an internal sono every 4 weeks. My cervix held up great though and I haven't had any issues my whole pregnancy thank God.

Re: past LEEP procedure and pregnancy
I had a LEEP and a cone biopsy about 4 years before I got pregnant with my DD. I made it known to my OB that I had these procedures done [he wasn't my doc back when I had them] and he was sure to keep an eye on my cervical length. I did not have any problem with my cervix being incompetent and carried my DD until 36w1d. All was well and I vaginally delivered a healthy and beautiful baby girl! Now with DC#2 on the way, I will remind the doc again of my history and at every sonogram, I will remind the tech to closely check my cervix. I did not get any extra sonos b/c of my previous histroy. HTH. Good luck!

Re: past LEEP procedure and pregnancy
Hi, I had a LEEP done in 2000 and gave birth to my first DD in 2006 with no problems - vaginal delivery. I am pregnant with my second and so far so good and i hope to have a vaginal delivery with her too.
To be honest the doctors never brought it up and they knew about it as they performed the procedure.
Good luck
