paving stone steps
I decided to put in a paving stone patio in my yard. I need stairs as well and DH is insisting on putting in bluestone tops. I keep telling him they can make the steps out of the same paving stones. Am i crazy and imagining this? I left a message for Fernando to come take a look but was wondering in the meantime if anyone knows. Also if you had steps put in were they $$$$$$$$$$??? I already know the patio is 14-15$ a sq ft.

Re: paving stone steps
You can definitely get paver steps. We had Fernando do them at our last house and they were great. I plan on calling him again next year for our new house. Is he charging $15/sq ft now? When we used him last time it was only $10/sq ft!

I was quoted 5k for 356 sq ft (i have an existing patio i am trying to enlarge. This was for Cambridge Ledgestone XL pavers. So I guess it comes to $14 a sq ft! Is this the going rate?

I haven't shopped around, but I know my neighbor just paid $16/sq ft for Nicolock pavers.

Re: paving stone steps
Yes they can make the steps with the same paving stones. We have that with our front steps and walkway.

When we got a quote on pavers, our guy told us the XL paving stones were more. I forgot how much more, but more. Material cost was higher, and install was more difficult.
You can get paving stone steps. I think bluestone treads and top look much better. We did that when we did our patio. Yes it is more $, but seemed worth it to us. We were spending a decent amount on the patio and steps and wanted the touches that made the whole thing nicer, amorphous shape on the patio with a circle kit for the grill, bluestone top on the steps with a chiseled edge. We skipped the cultured stone on the side of the steps as it was significantly more and we didn't see it as a huge deal.

So nice!! Do you remember how much you paid? I wonder if i ask them for the regular stones how much less it would be. Hmmm.

The stoop was a total of $3700 of that the bluestone was $900. So it would have been $2800 if we didn't do the Bluestone.
Note that was without the railings.

As an alternative to Fernando, I want to give a shout out to the company that did my patio, Island Greenery in Bellmore
They did a great job and had great ideas. I felt that the pricing was decent too.
