paxil- want to stop taking.
I hope someone can help me. Im currently been on paxil for about 9 months or so due to anxiety not depression. I get panic attacks alot. However since taking the paxil I hardly have any. I take a low dose of the CR 12.5 mg. I would like to come off this drug soon. I have been reading horror stories online of the withdrwal symptoms. Im hoping someone on here can offer some insight on how mangagebale this is. I know I have to taper off gradually. Im also thinking about switching to zoloft since its safe for pregnancy and eventually down the line I would like to TTC again is it easier to switch? Im so mad at myself for even starting this drug....

Are you under the care of a doctor? Can they advise you on what to expect?

Re: paxil- want to stop taking.
First of all
Weaning off SSRIs is not so bad. I was on Zoloft for 3 years and it was a wonder drug for me. I starting taking less each week until I was off and suffered no withdrawal. I did it under my doctor's care.
Zoloft and any of the SSRI's are not completely safe for pregnancy. I am off it now and my doc won't put me back on it since we are thinking about TTC.
Are you also seeing a therapist? FM if you want.

Re: paxil- want to stop taking.
Both my obgyn and my regular doc won't put me on Zoloft as long as we we are TTC. You may want to get another opinion. It passes through the placenta.
Don't beat yourself up here. You obviously needed the medication because it helped you. Is it possible to take a Xanax every now and then to help with the panic attacks? Also, get yourself a therapist so you can help yourself naturally.

Thanks for your advice!! I actually have a therapist. I dont see her anymore because well, I just didnt seem to have any issues to discuss espeacially while on the meds- I felt great. But if I do get off them I probably will go back

good for you. Try not to be so hard on yourself. If you want to wean off, call your doc..but I wouldn't go on another drug while TTC..just my honest opinion.
