Re: paying for ivf

I have to pay for IVF entirely OOP and DH needs a procedue that is entirely OOP. We're looking at 3xs what you're paying. I get sick when I think about the money, but the alternate with no babies is worse. You have the rest of your life to make money...so we're sucking it up and forgetting about the Chat Icon for a little while longer.

Re: paying for ivf

We currently have 2 insurance plans to maximize our benefits. DH's plan has a lifetime max of 15K for IVF, but he has a high deductible. We put off IVF until the start of the year so if we need multiple rounds, we will have already met the deductible, plus we needed to put more money into the HSA. My insurance has no deductible, but does not cover IVF. It will cover all monitoring appts, blood work, etc - it may also cover meds....we are still unsure about this. The RE hopes we can get two cycles covered by insurance by working with our two plans. So far, we have about 10K in the HSA plus an additional 10K in regular savings for IVF.

Re: paying for ivf

I have had a sucessful IVF cycle and one failed fet and a failed fresh. WE quickly ran thru our limited benefits. I have changed insurances, maxed out on flex spending and used our savings. All I can say is that I paid 12K for my son's cycle and I have paid around 10k for cycles that don't work and I'll probably be paying around 12k for my next cycle.
Do what you can, because once you are successful you won't look back
Hoping your journey is short!
