Paying on the books...
For those that have babysitters or nanny's that you pay on the books, how does it work? How do you do it?

Re: Paying on the books...
I am watching my friend's daughter and we bought a receipt book. Each week, she gives me a check and we write out a receipt so we can keep track of the hours/pay. My dad is a CPA, so he will handle it all once tax season arrives...other than that, I have no clue how it will work.

She's going to claim 5K at tax time, so I guess I am too.
Since this all happened after the fact, she agreed to cut me a check for the taxes I have to pay on the 5K.

If you are going to pay her social security tax - her quarterly wage will need to be calculated. In addition you must pay state unemployment insurance every quarter. The social security taxes you will pay at the end of the year wiht your tax return. If she is paying her portion of ssn you need to deduct from the paycheck each week.
