PCOS and positive opk tests
Hello,
I have PCOS, always had irregular cycles. I had dd with clomid and got pg with 1rst positive o. Now that I am ttc #2, I have been having a hard time. After months of clomid (some o, some not), my RE diagnosed me with PCOS and I started metformim in late November (with injections and IUI).
I am now on an off cycle before starting IVF and I wanted to see if the met would let me o on my own. Well, I never get positive opk's, but I got one today on CD19 (the same day I got them on clomid). Can this be for real?????
I have read that women with PCOS can get false positives. I do remember when they checked my LH and FSH they said it was normal, and I am not IR, just "clinically" diagnosed with PCOS based on irregular cycles and cysts on ovaries.
Do you think the opk was really positive????
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Re: PCOS and positive opk tests
I have PCOS and am on Metformin. OPK's work for me. I know they don't work for everyone with PCOS. But usually if they don't work you will get all + or all -. So I would keep testing to see if it changes. If you get only 1-3 days + then it turns - chances are the Met is working. Good luck

Re: PCOS and positive opk tests
Hello,
I just left my RE's office and they did a sono. I have an 18mm follie, so it looks like I will ovulate on my own (with met) for the first time!!! I am going to go in for an IUI tomorrow am to maximize our chances.
The only thing is that since it was later in the day, they won't get my blood (LH) results until tomorrow am. I'll have to rely on the opk positive that I am actually surging.
I can't believe the met just might have worked.
