PCOS girls--I need your help!

I just went and filled the dreaded Clomid and Metformin prescriptions. It says on the Metformin bottle to take twice daily. Each pill is 850mg!!!!!

Don't people usually MAX OUT around 2000 mg. per day? This is so not what I need right now, we're leaving to fly back to NY early tomorrow morning. Chat Icon I'm hoping someone can shed some light here.

did you call the dr or the pharmacist? Chat Icon and i still think if you're starting w/ clomid I wouldn't touch the metformin right now. Otherwise (and sorry for the TMI) you'll possibly be spending your Christmas in the bathroom Chat Icon Call your dr--- seriously. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: PCOS girls--I need your help!

This was literally about an hour ago. We were at the pharmacy--I picked up the meds, and when I got home, I saw the dosage and how often to take it. I just feel like they usually start people on the 500 mg. and gradually increase...

Re: PCOS girls--I need your help!

Also, she wants me to start the Met FIRST because I still have to take the Provera to get AF. Then I'd take the Clomid from CD3-7.

I started on 5oo- I would call the pharmacy and tell them to check the original prescription. That seems high to me for a starting dose.
That makes sense- I'm surprised she gave you the clomid now but i'm guessing that it's because you're going out of town. Now I understand.

But...what's weird is, she gave me those two off the bat and told me to start right away. I told her that I couldn't, because I'd be out of town when I'm supposed to come for cd3 bloodwork.

UGH, I'm so confused. I may just wait on the whole thing until we get back on the 29th. Chat Icon

If you're not sure and don't feel comfortable, I would definitely wait until you come back. Why make yourself crazy if it's just going to be one extra week? Try and enjoy the holidays without added stress Chat Icon

ITA. I would just wait. A week in the scheme of things won't make a huge diff. I would call your dr and ask if it's ok to wait it out until a few days before you're going to come home and then start taking the provera. Then after you're back you'll get AF and then start the clomid on CD3. Then after you're done w/ the clomid I would start the metformin the week after that. Honestly, it's not going to make a huge difference. Enjoy your vacation and start things off when you're going home. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: PCOS girls--I need your help!

my rx bottle said to take 500mg 3x a day, but the dr said to slowly work my way up/ build it up. so i would take one a day for a few weeks, then 2, then 3.

call your dr. i think it would be ok to wait. good luck! Chat Icon

Re: PCOS girls--I need your help!

I don't think it's odd to take 1500mg. a day, but double check with your Dr. before you leave.
If you still have to take Provera to get AF, you aren't going to get AF for probably another two weeks (one week of Provera, one week before AF arrives)...you would be back by then.
