PCOS related question again (sorry!)

Since my doctor s#%^@ he did not properly test my blood for all my hormone levels. As a result, I still don't know if I'm IR.

I was wondering if diet is important to change even if I am NOT IR? Is that something I should focus on even if IR isn't an issue?

TIA

It can never hurt to have a healthier diet.

If you don't mind me asking--are you overweight?

Most women w/ PCOS are--of course, there are some that are not. Part of the reason many women are overweight is because of the insulin resistance. This made a lot of sense when my RE mentioned it. I have all of the textbook symptoms of IR: I carry almost ALL of my excess weight in my stomach, I crash about 2 hours after a carb-laden meal, and I get VERY shaky if I don't eat regularly. OH, and then there was the year that I gained 60 lbs. inexplicably.

To find out if you're IR, you can request the 3 hr. glucose test. That's how they find out--I'm not sure if they can really tell from the regular blood test--at least as accurately as they can from the glucose test.

ETA: I'm modifying my diet so that it's about 70% protein, and no more than a serving of carbs with each meal. I'm also being VERY careful with sugar. Hope this helps!
