Pediatric Dermatologist recommendation?
Can anyone recommend a pediatric dermatologist that you used? What did your child have done by them? My son is 3 months old.
I have GHI insurance. Thanks.

Re: Pediatric Dermatologist recommendation?
The one I took my oldest dd to was in Massapequa on broadway.. She just checked her skin b/c she was had a reaction to Oatmeal. She confirmed that it was an allergy and she also has excema (which i already knew).. this was back when she was 5m or so.
If you want the name let me know.

Re: Pediatric Dermatologist recommendation?
My DD saw Dr. Leonard Kristal in New Hyde Park (some websites show him as having an E Setauket location, but he's no longer there.) My DD has a lesion on her face that I was concerned about. He hasn't done anything to it yet as we go back this summer for a follow-up to see if it has grown.
As for insurance, you'd have to call and ask them b/c I know they didn't accept ours which is Oxford. (Some websites showed them as accepting Oxford.)

We used Dr. Krystal. Then, he was out of Commack, but now I think he is in East Setauket. DD had a hemangioma, that is why we went.

We saw his associate, Dr. Hayman. Such a nice man. DD has a few very small hemangiomas that he is monitoring.

My DD saw Dr. Rhona Susser in East Meadow. She was born with a hemangioma, that's why we took her.

ITA! They cleared up my DD excema in thre days! She was ripping apart her face because of it. I called them 3 days later to thank them.
They have even squeezed me in to see them after I called them while on vacation. I called them on a Saturday and they say mw on Tuesday when I got hoe.
I will never go to anyone else!

My peds also told me do nothing, but I wanted a second opinion so I went to Dr. Hayman. He also wanted me to do nothing, wait and see. Overall, not much can be done and he felt it wasn't worth it to cause a child pain unless the hemangioma was going to be a problem with a function (seeing, urinating, etc) or in a very obvious place that might make the child be made fun of, etc.
That was his take and after much thought, I agreed. DD has since developed 3 more small ones (pencil point sized but def growing, albeit slowly) in different locations. The consensus still is leave them alone unless they become a problem.
2 of my friends had daughters with them. They did not do ANY tx, and they went away by 2 years old. Another poster on this site was very helpful as well on the issue.

It's always good to go see a specialist and get their opinion. We also saw Hayman and Krystal. DS was born with an 'angel kiss' on much of his face and entire head. (His head is at least covered by hair.) It has faded a lot, but we may choose to do a laser surgery before he enters school.
