Pediatric Neurosurgeon
I need a recommendation for a pediatric neurosurgeon, preferably in suffolk county. The one we were referred to (Dr. Egnor) won't be able to see him for 3+ weeks.

Re: Pediatric Neurosurgeon
I dont have one but have you tried having the pediatrician call to get him in sooner?
This has been done for me in the past with my eldest daughter...usually they can get you right in that way.

Re: Pediatric Neurosurgeon
he is on vacation so there is no chance of seeing him earlier. The other drs at his practice aren't pediatric so there is no one else there to see.

Re: Pediatric Neurosurgeon
Have heard great things about Dr. Mittler from this board. But he is in Nassau.
Here is the office link: Long Island Neurosurgeons

We used him and he is worth the wait if you can.

Also, Dr. Steven Schneider (personally I'd take him over Mittler-not that Mittler is bad just a personal preferance). Same practice as Mittler but they are both in New Hyde Park and do surgery only out of Schneider Children's Hospital.

My co-worker's daughter has been going to him since she was 4 months old. She highly recommends him.
Jules - if you have any questions, feel free to FM me. She's out of the office today (MRI for her daughter) but she's back tomorrow & is more than happy to help out with any questions.
I know it's Nassau County but in the end, you'll probably want to be going to Schneiders.
Hope it's nothing!

I know you said you prefer Suffolk but I second Schneiders also.
My daughter had a blood issue (ITP) when she was 3. We went to Stonybrook for several weeks, and when she wasn't making any progress I decided to call Schneiders. It was the best move that I made. At Stonybrook they saw what she had a couple of times a year - at Schneiders they saw it much more frequently, therefore they knew a lot more about how to treat it. It was a lot more inconvenient to get to, but well worth it.
Good luck!

Also a Dr. Mittler person here. Highly recommend him! I didn't see Dr. Schneider.

Re: Pediatric Neurosurgeon
I hope everything is ok. I do not have a rec. for a dr, but I am a huge advocate for schneiders. When my son was having stomach issues, this is where I took him. They deal with children all day long, and with the parents, so they know how to handle each. If this is possible, I would highly recommend seeing someone from there.
