Pediatric ophthalmologist and ? About the drs hearing/vision test.
One of my DDs failed the vision test. The one they begin at 6 mo to test for lazy eye. They said it gets a lot of false positives and isn't the greatest test and the ophthalmologist has better tests. Have anyone gotten a fail but was fine at the eye dr? I'm not too concerned because I've never seen her eyes go to the side when staring at something. I think I would have noticed. And any recs for an eye dr?

Ds never failed the test but is nearsighted in his left eye so he has glasses and we are patching him to strengthen it. He goes to Dr Levi at Long Island pediatric opthalmology and strabismus in Plainview. Dd1 goes to her as well. She just has general vision issues.

Re: Pediatric ophthalmologist and ? About the drs hearing/vision test.
We had to take DS when he was about 6 months old b/c he failed part of the office test (I don't remember which part). Everything was fine when we went to the P.O. We were told to come back when he's 3.
We saw Dr. Marmor in Pt. Jeff. He was good. We'll continue to see him, if necessary.

Pediatric ophthalmologist and ? About the drs hearing/vision test.
He was in Great Neck. He just wasn't warm and fuzzy enough for me and as we were there I was thinking, if she has to do keep coming we are switching doctors.

I wonder if you are talking about the Dr that I originally brought ds to. I felt exactly the same way and DH did too. OP I will fm you who I am talking about.

This is who DD sees. Her daycare thought she had a weak eye muscle. I noticed it in pictures. Ped thought he saw it too. Dr. Levi did her tests and said muscle is fine, but DD does have a slight astigmatism that we have to keep an eye on. Dr. Levi is great, as is the office.

This is who we use too and I really like her. DD's left eye drifted a lot when she was an infant. Now as a toddler it only happens when she is really tired or just woke up. She does have a slight astigmatism in her right eye so we are patching the left to strengthen her right.

Re: Pediatric ophthalmologist and ? About the drs hearing/vision test.
DD failed 6 month test and we took her to a doc in West Babylon (can't remember her name now) but I HATED HER!! Got a second opinion with Dr. Kodsi in Great Neck who we love, love, love! She ended up needing glasses at 2 but Kodsi was very frank with us and realized that she was TWO and there was very little we could do to actually keep them on her face at all times.
I have horrible vision and have been wearing glasses/contacts since i'm in kindergarten so i wasn't surprised by DD needing them. I haven't heard of a lot of "false positives" on the 6 month exam, I was just surprised that they were actually giving my 6 month old an eye exam! I just assumed it was like when I was young and you go to the nurse when you cant see the blackboard!!!!
Good luck :)
