Pediatricians in the Bellmore/Merrick Area
I'm looking for a pediatrician (maybe a group) in the Bellmore/Merrick area.
Please recommend a pediatrician that has a wide range of office hours (7 days a week ideally), flexiblity with vaccines, and flexible on-call services.

ETA: Please make sure it's obviously someone who is great with kids. I'll never forget the pediatrician I had growing up. He came highly recommended to my mother, and all I can remember him telling me when I was FIVE was "Oh wow, Theresa! Someone's getting FAT!" That asshol.e gave me a frigging complex. His name was Dr. Mullholland and I hope he rots his fat assss in hell.lll! Ooops! There goes the hormones again...

I recommend Dr Zazo in East Meadow (right on Merrick Avenue) 516-794-7969
I do not recommend Dr. Oppenheimer in Bellmore - we had problems in their office that made me decide to leave

I do not recommend Dr. Oppenheimer in Bellmore - we had problems in their office that made me decide to leave
Oh, thanks for your non-recommendation!  I wonder if that's even a word...
What are Dr. Zazo's office hours? Weekends included?

Oh I love my pediatrician. Dr. Jeffrey Silverstein on Merrick Ave in Merrick. He is the only doctor in the practice but has a covering doctor around the block on Hewlett. I was refered to him by 2 friends - 1 has a 13yr old, 9 yrold and 2 1/2 yr old and the other has a 3 yr old and 1 yr old. He is very easy going and doesn't make you feel on a time limit for things which I like. He does not just put kids on meds for the sake of doing it, its only when necessary whcih I love and I have never ever waited more than 5 minutes in the waiting room and 5 in the exam room.

There is no sick waiting area, but sick kids go immediately to the exam room, do not pass go, do not collect $200
Not sure what the hours are exactly, but he is closed Saturdays because he is Jewish, but he is open on Sunday. I can't say enough about this dr.....I really like him.

Dr. Pamela Banks on Hewlett Ave.....We love her....open 7 days a week and when she isn't available we are referred to Dr. Jeffrey Silverstein who is also good just not much of a personality IMO and I'm not a fan of one of the ladies in the office plus I find that Ava gets less hysterical with a female doctor. Oh and she has a sick room and well room

Yes, this is the doctor who stands in for dr. silverstein. i have only had to see her once and it was a very bad experience. It was a Saturday,DS and I were stuck in her waiting room for 3 hours with about 10-15 other sick/well kids. It was horrible, but I think she had someone filling in for her b/c we saw a man. SO it might have just been a bad day.....I have no opinion on her.

Not sure - but I know tonight (Wednesday) is a late night and he is open until 8pm. Also has Saturday hours and always allows me to schedule a Saturday appt unlike Oppenheimer (the nurses would get so nasty with me about that day).
I want to say that M/TU/TH/F he closes at 4 or 5pm and every day they close for an hour for lunch. But so far we have never had a problem.
I also have to say that the main reason I like him is that my neice goes to him and for a while she was having fainting spells. He worked on determining the cause but in the meanwhile she fainted in his office. He never left her side and when she recovered he carried her out to the car

I switched from oppenheimer to silverstein and love his practice. Since he is open on sundays, and he has a covering dr on saturdays, its basically 7 day coverage. I have two children and he is wonderful with my son,age 4...very understanding. My dd is only 11 months and screams her head off whenever he enters the room but life happens. He is available via phone weekdays from 8-8:30 to answer any questions himself. He makes followup calls even on friday nights after my kids have been really sick. I know many people who use him and noone has anything bad to say about him. When winthrop wanted to keep my dd in the hospital for more tests (long story) he told them got her out knowing the tests were unnecessary and the hospital was just covering itself at the expense of my dd. He very thorough. The ladies in his office are really good too.
