Peeling baby?

Bella is peeling pretty bad on her hands and feet and I'm wondering what to do about it. We tried to bathe her last night Chat Icon Chat Icon (nightmare!) and didn't know what was safe to put on her for the night. She's always putting her hands near her mouth now and don't want to put anything on them.

Any remedies?

Re: Peeling baby?

How old is she? DD had that when she was around a month old. It went away on it's own. I was hesitant to put lotion on her hands since she puts them in her mouth.

Re: Peeling baby?

I asked the doctor about the peeling skin the other day and he said it was normal. I put lotion on her feet and stomach to help it out, but nothing for her hands...she loves to suck on them!

Re: Peeling baby?

My son peeled like a snake for a few weeks. I lotioned him up - everywhere but hands.. I picked off all the flaky stuff as I held him. It took a few weeks but it stopped and he is smooth as... well a babies butt!!!!

My ped said we could use Aveeno lotion. Christopher had this too.

Bella is just too beautiful, when I go to Montauk this summer to see my parents we should have an east end baby partyChat Icon

I had posted this same question and soon after went to the pediatrician and asked... it's completely normal. They spend 9 months in fluid in the womb and now their skin is drying out so it flakes. My doctor said I coud use vaseline but not to grease him up Chat Icon

At 2 weeks we started using Aveno Baby and no adverse reaction so far.

Re: Peeling baby?

I ws told by Ped to use regular baby lotion. We used that, but it wasn't working. We used Aquafor, worked great. It will go away soon, I think DS's went away w/i 2 weeks.

Ped said it occurs mostly in babies born after their due date or large babies. In our case, he was large (9lbs 7oz @ birth)
