Pelvic Pain 2nd Trimester
Hi Ladies,
So for the last 2-3 weeks I have been having excruciating pain "down there". I would say in my pelvic bone. I went to my dr. when it 1st started and he said it was normal "growth pain" he said it was ligaments stretching and some women are more sensitive than others! Now I always thought I was pretty tough...but I said ok..and thought it woudl pass. While it is not constant..it comes and goes, some days its here, some days it isnt. But when its here OMG!! It is HORRIBLE! I can hardly walk, turn over in bed, etc...I am literally in tears I have been researching and I found this "Pubic Symphysis Dysfunction"? Well it sounds like this is what I have although my Dr. hasnt said it...I am supposed to start a new job Monday with my Dr. apptmt coming up on Tuesday...My questions are:
1. Does anyone else have this pain? If so what can I do??
2. Should I wait to see my Dr. or should I start looking into a chiropracter like now?
TIA Ladies...

Re: Pelvic Pain 2nd Trimester
Oh man, I feel for you! Its the most terrible pain I've ever experienced. It was totally was ruining my life.
I felt this pain at 12 weeks, after a week of discomfort and another of shear agony. Finally foound a physical therapist I felt comfortable with. And after working with her I HAVE NO PAIN (well not in the pelvic region anymore at least)!
But be very careful which physical therapists you go to, many don't understand the condition.
As for Doctors they are completely ignorant to it. I went through 3 doctors, none had any clue about it, except the 3rd who suggested I do Yoga. But even she told me I was over-exaggerating when I said,
"I can't walk, I can't sit, I can't stand, I can't lay on my side, I can lay on back with a pillow under my butt, but only for 20 minutes then the pain is worse"
I was not exaggerating! I was in tears all the time because of the pain.
After a ton of research on my own I found several medical journals articles published in European journals. I read and studied them and diagnosed myself. I found a physical therapy group that deals specifically with pregnant women, and met with a physical therapist 3 times. I do exercises at home and I haven't felt that pain in a month.
Here are my earlier posts:
Anyone hear of Pubis Symphisis Dysfunction
Recommend a Phsycial Therapist Please
Pregnancy Pain Relief Finally!
Its not necessary to suffer through this, its normal for sure, but it doesn't mean you can't treat it simply and naturally.

Re: Pelvic Pain 2nd Trimester
Omg Mom2010...not only do we almost have the same name! But thank you for making me feel like I not going crazy. I really want to be fine an I dont think I am over exaggerating but noone seems to understand what I am talking about! It was in my book "What to Expect when you are Expecting" and from there I found tons of research online. I am a RN and I think I know what I am feeling. I found your posts soooo helpful and I will FM you for your therapists info if possible. I need to work to the end and I know if I dont treat this now, the baby will get bigger and it may get worse I am 18 weeks now and will see my DR. to discuss again, but I have a feeling he will not take me seriously (or he may not be familiar with the condition) My friend is a midwife and she totally agrees with my symptoms, I am just glad to know that this is not as "rare" as I've read! Thanks so much!

Re: Pelvic Pain 2nd Trimester
It's common where its recognized by doctors. It's not that "rare" in Europe.
If your an RN, do you get access to medical journals? If you do see this one:

If not I FM you the article anyway. Anyone else want it? FM me I'll send it.
