Pelvic Sonogram/AF related-long but need advice
Hey girls!!
I haven't posted on here in a while, but I'm wondering if any of you have went through what I'm experiencing since going off BCP's Jan 1...
Here goes:
Went off BCP Jan 1-got AF Jan 28-perfect cycle
Next cycle in February AF came in 25 days, a little earlier than expected.
March-AF came soo early it was a 21 day cycle. And it was only like 3 days.
On what would have been the due date in March, I started getting really bad cramping in my pelvis..it was this past Sunday. I woke up Monday with the same pain, not as bad.
I took an HPT and it was negative (just in case). Well now it's been 6 days of minor cramping which makes no sense.
I spoke to my OBGYN on Wed and explained everything. He said from going off BCP thats what could be causing this, but regardless he is having me go for a pelvic sonogram...
Ugghhh I'm scared!! But at the same time, I feel like it's a good test to get done since we're hoping to get PG later on in the year.
What do you think? Has anyone went through anything like this?
TIA

Re: Pelvic Sonogram/AF related-long but need advice
My first 3 cycles off the pill were similar to yours....almost too perfect and in retrospect, I realize that they probably weren't "real" cycles anyway - just my body still adjusting to being off the pill - I doubt I was even ovulating then.
The the 4th cycle was just as you decribed. CD 29, 30, 31, 32, 33, etc. I had cramping and everything. Don't even know how many HPT's I went thru. Finally AF came on CD 35.
Your MD sounds like he's just covering all the bases with the pelvic sono. Which is good. I wouldn't be too worried about it. I had one done years ago to r/o cysts (mine was an internal - and besides some annoying pressure and severe need to pee - b/c they make you drink a ton of water before - it was really OK).
I know the thought of tests can be scary, but sonos are normally not bad and I wouldn't worry. I think your body is just adjusting to being off the pill and ovulating again.
Good luck!

Re: Pelvic Sonogram/AF related-long but need advice
Jen- I was very similiar as well. AF was getting lighter and lighter and then last month was a no show. I had pains too and when I went for a sonogram they found a small functional cyst. They said it was very normal and surrounded by fluid so it was already going away on its own.
It is good that they want to be proactive and take a sonogram to rule anything out. Def. better safe than sorry. I am sure its nothing and just your body adjusting to being off BCP.

I've had many pelvic sonos over the years because I tend to have ovarian cysts. They're really no big deal.
