People are so insensitive!

Logan has had really bad acne since he was born. I actually mentioned it to the doctor on our last visit, because I am getting worried. I thought it was supposed to go away around 6 weeks but he still has it at 4 months.
Anyway I cant tell you how many people (strangers) have said things to me like: "whats wrong with his face?" "what does he have a rash?" "What is he scratching up his face?"
It makes me sooo mad!!! Like why do they have to say anything at all?

Re: People are so insensitive!

Thanks girls!!! You made me feel a lot better. You would think that they never saw a pimple before!!!
The doctor gave me a prescription for erythramiacin (sp?) cream to use for a week. BUT it isnt doing anything but drying up his cheeks... He still is getting the pimples.
He said if it doesnt seem to hlep after a week to stop using it. Anyone have any recommendations?

Re: People are so insensitive!

I would just use whatever the dr. tells you to be safe. Do you breastfeed? I once read acne is more common in B/F babies but it does clear up. They are getting so much more other benefits so who caresChat Icon

Re: People are so insensitive!

Anthony had the exact same thing!! It was REALLY bad when he was little but even at 2-6 months he would get outbreaks of it.
I had a few people make rude comments as well ( and one was a friend and that hurt worse!Chat Icon )
I never put anything on it, I let it go away by itself! It will clear upChat Icon

Also are you still washing his clothes seperatly and what detergent are you using? that could be affecting it as well.

Re: People are so insensitive!

In the doctor's office some lady was talking to her daughter and was trying to whisper...She said..."Oh...poor baby...she has a rash".

First of all...Jared's a BOY....and second of all, you're never seen baby acne or heard of it before???

I hated that too! Even a particular family member kept asking me 1 million times if it was a rash or something else - no matter how many times I said it was infant acne - she insisted it was what she wanted it to be a rash or excema. URGH!!! Kevin still has marks on his face from his acne and does still get pimples now at 7 months old. With excessive drooling from teeth - it keeps it going. Now it isn't nearly as bad but I hate those pimples. My dr said just try to keep the face as dry as possible.

sorry that people are insensitive!
I just wanted to mention that this happened to my nephew and we think part of the problem was our clothes - not his. Like every time someone held him and his face touched our shirts, etc. It is starting to clear up and we keep a cloth as a barrier.

I hope it goes away soon for your adorable son

Re: People are so insensitive!

I hate people sometimes I know exactly what you mean marissa when marissa was teething she would drool alot and around her mouth would be all rashy and really really red and blotchy and family members mainly inlaws would make comments about it and say that she might of gotten thrush mouth or something else and it really hurt I told them its nothing more then a rash from teething but they didn't want to believe it. People are @sses at times and don't think before they speak

I think Logan is adorable.

Oh my god i have been meaning to FM you about this because i remember a post you had on this awhile ago. My nephew had BAD baby acne and my sister-in-law tried everything including the medicine you just said your doctor prescribed and NOTHING worked.

Finally someone told her to use Baby (Johnson and Johnson) shampoo on his face (just rubbing it around his face - not eyes - and washing it off) and it went away in a few days. Now my nephew has clear skin!!!!

I am so sorry I totally forgot to FM you about it. Hope it works.

I know how you feel. Kiera has a birthmark on her arm and people ask me all the time-what is that? Did she burn herself? And then when i tell them it's a birthmark some people are like well do the doctors think it will go away?

That is so ridiculous - people are so rude. I have a friend whose baby girl has a red birthmark on her nose, which should go away within a couple of years. Strangers mention it all the time! Try not to get upset - people are just insensitive jerks sometimes!!!

Re: People are so insensitive!

I agree with the other ladies.. try switching the sunblock and also try putting your shirts through with dreft or that other baby detergent that is cheaper ( sorry I can't think of the name right now)

I remember that helped alot as well.
