People never cease to amaze me
So since it was nice outside today I met my Mom in the playground in the back of my building so my DD could get some fresh air and my nephew could play. There were a whole bunch of kids playing there as to be expected.
So the first incident I'm sitting down on the bench talking to my Mom and we notice a little boy no more than 2 years old sitting under the play gym hysterical crying...by himself....no parent to be seen. My Mom in all her tactfullness yells out "Hey someones kid is crying over here....would you come and help him"
OK fine...so then once again sitting on the bench talking to my Mom and I notice a little girl no more than 15 months old...not walking yet sitting under the playgym...her clothes are filthy. Sure enough she starts to crawl and digs between the foam mats picks up a rock and proceeds to put it in her mouth...I jump up and snatch it from her hands. I was amazed. All the while her Mom is on the other side of the play ground in lalala land. So I yelled out.......hellllooo this baby almost ate a rock. Granted the rock was small but still she could have chocked. How do u leave your baby by herself unattended. BTW her Mom didn't come get her her little sister did. I just dont get people

I swear to God... this is just like the thread we had going the other day of "Do you think there are bad moms out there" or something like that...
Some people should just NOT be allowed to procreate!!!!!!!

Re: People never cease to amaze me
I saw something like that a few weeks ago. I dont even know if it was the mother or who it was with the kids but she was on her cell phone the whole time. The baby who was definitely younger than my son (22m) was practically unattended. It was a bigger kid playground too since I was there with my older kids and niece and nephew who are older so that kid was in serious need of attending.
I'm guessing that when you said to that woman that her kid almost ate a rock and she didn't thank you profusely and look even remotely concerned. That's usually how it goes with that type when your average attentive mother would be beside herself.

Re: People never cease to amaze me
one even better...a child about maybe 1....her mom talking in a group---not watching=----the kid proceeds to walk out into the bay--and go deeper and deeper until shes up to her chin in water until I start screaming---dumb arse,
and mind you watch---because these kids go through life with others watching them and the mom laying back...I have seen it for years...some just are out of their mind

All i gotta say some people are Stupid!! (i would like to substitute that word with a more harsh one but dont want to get in trouble)...
good thing you stop that baby from eating that rock. If she had ate it and it did get down okay... who knows if it would have passed through her body.. then in a few days the mother would be wonderng why her baby isnt going to the bathroom. People are soo clueless.

Re: People never cease to amaze me
When I was a full time nanny in Manhattan I used to take the little boy to central park every day, things that I saw there every single day, amazed and shocked me, parents and nannies bringing the kids to the park and leaving them unattended while they gossiped and chatted with each other or talked on the phone, I never understood that , I don't understand how you let you kid or the kid you are taking care of and you are responsible for out of your sight for even a sec and just relax? That' is something that makes me scratch my head and boggles my mind

Re: People never cease to amaze me
It amazes me how often parents are not paying attention to what their kids are doing... they are too busy talking to someone or just not caring.... WAKE UP! and WATCH your kids
