Hopefully someone will chime in with "But hey, she likes ANIMALS - so calm down guys."

I am talking about a living creature not pizza or alcohol, or shopping!! I dont mean bugs or spiders. I guess I mean the ones our society takes as pets.. Not sports!!!

We're all fully aware of what you are saying. We're saying that some people just don't like certain things - and they don't necessarily have some big important reason WHY. They just like it or don't. Why do you find that so impossible to believe?

I just think the ones that dont like them are weird. Thats it why cant I feel this way? I have noticed a certain common thread among them?? I didnt need to know why I just asked you why because you mentioned specific people you knew that just came up after.

I know a few people who don't particularly like animals - or specifically pets - and I don't think they are weird.
My FIL is one of the nicest people, but he doesn't like dogs and he hates cats.
It's just the way he is.

You absolutely can. If you want to be that closed-minded toward such a large segment of the population and make such sweeping generalizations about them, be my guest... but as you've seen here, don't expect too many people to agree with you.

I personally can not understand how one can not love animals (since I adore them all and want them all) but I don't think it makes them weird!
Thiink of all the dog lovers who can't stand cats and vice versa!

maybe the op meant the people they ran into that do not like animals have been strange..I think the questions was have you noticed it also...
I do not see the big deal with the question.
I think animals have the kindest heart--are most loyal etc...so maybe they just mean it that way...
that if something is so pure---whether someone is afraid or not how can someone not like them?

No one had any trouble understanding what the OP meant. We all got it -- many of us just disagree.
Just because you cannot fathom why someone does not share one of your passions doesn't make ALL people who don't like that one thing weird or strange. People are objecting to her blanket classification of a huge number of people based on an arbitrary preference. I think most of us know plenty of very normal people who do not like animals. On top of that, after years in the horse industry, I've met far weirder animal lovers than I ever have people who dislike animals. That doesn't make me think all people who like animals are weird.
So people get what the OP was saying - that doesn't make us have to agree with her or abstain from posting our views because we don't agree with her.

Lets back up here for a second.. When did I give the impression I needed to be agreed with. I have not one time been upset or uptight about it.. You got very upset because I used an eye roll icon?? .. It was meant as a relax here I didnt mean to offend you!! I am not apologizing for it.. I asked if anyone else agreed with it and then went further into it on my later posts.. People are entitled to any opinion they have.. What is up with you???

I used to be one of those people that didn't like animals
I never had a pet growing up- my Mom would never let us get one
when my DH first brought my Fur-Baby home- I was grossed out at the thought of this animal sharing my house with me
now that I have fallen in love with him (pokey my cat) I can cry at the thought on anything happening to him, I get upset if I wake up and he is not on my pillow, drops hundreds at the vet and not even think twice etc
but 2 years ago- I would have been grossed out by these ideas
I don't think it makes me weird- I just didn't know what it was like to have a pet

I gave my opinion---I have one and thats all.I took it a different way is all.
I took it that the op has ran into people who do not like animals and they all tended to be odd...then she asked the pet board if they realized it.
Maybe some people do not agreee with the question---but if u consider it stupid don't answer it---we all have the right to not look at the post...
I tend to see stupid things too...like some of the people on here think their way is the only way...and they do only right...
it was just a question...
No one has to agree,
same as if I have a different opinion on parenting...I do not lose sleep over someone disagreeing me.
If we all had the same opinion the boards would suck
