I just wanted to add that not liking animals may be a cultural thing. I know that for the older generations in Italy, dogs and cats are OUTSIDE animals and are considered "dirty" even if you do leave them your leftover pasta every day.
I have aunts and uncles that come to visit me and CRINGE when they see Brutus in the house. It is almost like I invited a cow to come sit in my living room. . . they don't understand it and they never will.
I "pretend" that I don't let him on the couch, or in the bed with us because I don't think they could handle it.

the question wasnt about people who harm them though, it was about LIKING them. personally, i trust many people in my life who dont like animals, even though im an animal lover.

My vegetarian friend thinks meat-eaters are weird.
My vegan friend things meat-eaters and vegetarians are wierd.
I think that anyone who would start a post about people who don't like
animals are wierd, is wierd.
Some people love bugs/spiders/snakes/ferrets adn think that people who don't are wierd.
Some people think that people who love bugs/spiders/snakes/ferrets are wierd.
ETA: What about people who love dogs and hate cats or vice versa? Are they wierd too? or just half wierd?

OK Now I want to make a point.. There is a post on here about a cop who said"its only a dog" you can get another one!!! THIS IS THE KIND OF PERSON I AM TALKING ABOUT!!!!!! Maybe he just likes cats and not dogs, Or snakes and not pigs!!! He is messed up!! There are many of you who agree about him but jumped all over me like I was some person looking for trouble or a need to be agreed with.. He did not kick the dog or shoot it.. He just could care less about its well being.. THATS EXACTLY WHAT I MEANT!!!!!!! He is weird to me.. Many of you thought alot worse of him than what I said!!! So now have I shed some light onto what I meant?? I really hope so!

If you meant to start a post about people who are indifferent to the pain and suffering of animals or people who harm animals, then you should have done so. There are plenty of things I dislike, but that doesn't mean I hate them and want ill will to come to them. "Don't like" means "don't like." It doesn't mean "torture" or "hate" or "harm" or anything but "don't like."
No, I don't think we find that guy in the other post weird or strange. We find him to be someone who acted like an insensitive assclown in a particular situation. You didn't ask about people like that. You asked about people who "don't like" animals. There are plenty of people out there who don't like animals who wouldn't want to see one harmed. There are plenty of people out there who don't like animals who understand that others do.
What you're saying here is NOT what you said in your first post. If it's what you meant, you had plenty of time to clear up this misunderstanding earlier. And quite frankly, if you were talking about people who harm animals or are indifferent to their suffering, then I think "did you ever notice they're weird?" to be an odd way to broach that topic. I'd think you'd say something like "I don't understand how people can be so indifferent..." or something like that. But you just stated over and over again that you find a weird common thread among all people who don't like animals. That's what you said. How are we supposed to read beyond the words "don't like" and "weird" to get some much deeper meaning that you didn't articulate?

the post about the cop is DIFFERENT - it is about an officer disregarding a very upset man's feelings while his dog dies, and treating him without any dignity. you started this thread saying, "people who dont animals are weird!" there is a difference between not LIKING animals, and letting one die while its owners cry in front of you. see the difference?????

youre REALLY missing the point.
GREAT! he is entitled to not like dogs! he is NOT entitled to mistreat someone because they are upset about their dog dying.

I don't like animals.
But geez, I don't to harm them or have anyone else hurt them! I don't want to spend 20 mins writing a ticket just because I don't like animals. You can not like animals and not purposely harm them!!
And, FTR, I live w/3 cats (they are my husbands, and my last roommate had a cat). Sometimes I like them; sometimes I don't like them. I tolerate them but would give them away in a heartbeat (except it would kill the husband to do that!) He's an animal lover but he didn't think that this non-lover was too weird to marry
I think people who treat their animals like children are weird and I don't get it but I would try to cause trouble by posting that on a message board. To each his own, if you want to spend all your money on your pet - go ahead. It doesn't affect me.

What about those who can't have children, or can't adopt, or for whatever reason do not have a human child...they have decided to take in a helpless animal to love and take care of. I guess those people are complete lunatics then.
I must be a lunatic and very weird because both of my "children" have four legs and fur.
