People who LOVEEEEEEEE their free time....
How much would a position have to pay you to make it 'worth it' to you to work p/t (figure around 19 hours/week) on top of already working f/t (37.5 hrs) and going to school p/t (2 nights/wk)?
This is all hypothetical, of course

Re: People who LOVEEEEEEEE their free time....
There wouldn't be enough money. I am not one for a second job at any price. No amount of money would be worth the added stress I would feel.

yeah... thats basically how i feel especially since i always worked sooo much when i was younger... now, i'm such a baby about giving up that free time for more work.
But then part of me feels like i should do it now, before we have kids and stuff.

Enjoy your free time now before you have kids. Kids will take up a lot of your free time. You and DH should enjoy all the free time you can.

It would have to be a whole lot of dough. My free time is what keeps me sane, and I don't value money over my sanity!

that's where i'm stuck. we all already know how i need to cling on to that last bit of sanity that i've got BUT, if i did get this position, it is a Whole lotta dough. and eventhough we don't Need the money now, i feel like it might be foolish to turn my back on it too i have a while to think about it, so its no big rush... but of course, i need to start overanalyzing every aspect about it right away

hmmmm...that makes it hard to turn down if it is a lot of $. if something is coming up- like buying a coop/condo/house, relocating to another place, it might be worth trying the extra job.
don't feel bad, i can over-analyze with the best of them.

Re: People who LOVEEEEEEEE their free time....
I would work my butt off while I was young enough and had no kids. In fact I am toying with that exact idea at this stage in my life.

Re: People who LOVEEEEEEEE their free time....
Find a job that you get paid off the books or a job where you can make a lot in tips....
I am going to get a part time job for the afternoons to early evenings when we get into the house. The reason why is I cannot do the car detailing in the winter because I have to shut the water off so the pipes dont freeze Scott

Re: People who LOVEEEEEEEE their free time....
Neenie, how much longer will you be in school?
The reason I ask is that I was in the position of working full time and school part time and I have to say I don't think I would have taken on another job, unless school was done. I would have had no free time and I wouldn't be willing to give up my free time for some extra $.

Re: People who LOVEEEEEEEE their free time....
I work full time and am in a doctoral program full time... I almost started teaching for Kaplan, but it was $25/hour which wasn't worth it for me. If it was something on the books I'd need to be in the high $30s/hr, or $40s to be worth it. I am doing some freelance writing, which I can do quickly and make extra $$$$.

i still have another 2 years. Right now, my class schedule is pretty light (lecture for 3 hours on monday nights, and lab for 3 hours on wednesday nights)... but next year, i will have lecutre/lab 4 nights a week from 5:30-10pm and clinical rounds another 15-20 hours on top of that (so that will probably be my weekends).
The thing is though- i'm considering attempting to work PT (possibly) when classes get that hectic, b/c theres not even any room in there for Studying- which i'm sure i'll need to do I mean, we could get by on DHs salary and me being PT if we had to, but i think i'd feel better about it if i was able to put more $$$ away Now.
