People who've said you're definitely having a boy or girl...

My DH and I don't know what we're having, we want the extra surprise so a lot of people of course are letting us know what they think. I'm really surprised that pretty much everyone has said girl. I asked why and here were some of the things they said

- your face changed
- your arms are bigger
- your hips are bigger
- from the sono pictures it looks like a girl

So my question is did you have people, family members think you were so going to have a boy or girl and they were completely dead wrong? Do you believe in the wise tails they say about carrying a certain gender?

It's true I did change, my nose got wider and I did put on some weight all around but I don't think that really means anything.

Re: People who've said you're definitely having a boy or girl...

People SWORE I was having a boy because I was all belly, I mean I really was just belly. They even kept insisting (like perhaps they knew better Chat Icon ) that it was a boy after I told them 3 different sonograms said it was a girl...like they knew better than modern technology. It was really annoying, but I finally started getting snotty when I told them "nope, it's definitely a girl" and that made me feel better.

BTW: It realllllly was a girl! Chat Icon

Re: People who've said you're definitely having a boy or girl...

i never believed anything anyone said- i just heard a girl i know say "i was surprised she had a girl bc her face didnt change at all"- like, are u supposed to turn into someone else bc your baby girl is "stealing your beauty"??? weird.....

anyway, i was all belly, and had a girl- i was "supposed" to have a boy. i just believe it is the womans body and how she carries.......

but, what i DO believe is this- we werent finding out the sex, and at 20 weeks a woman said to me this: "if you (the mother) are like a boyish kind of girl (thats me- im a tomboy, athletic, sooooo not a girly girl, no big boobs- things like that- i dont LOOK like a boy or anything, im just tomboyish haha) and u are having a great pregnancy (no sickness or anything like that), then u are having a girl............the reasoning? the hormones that come from making a girl were balancing out the fact that im not really a girly girl/ have a lot of the girly hormones.....equalling harmony.....had i been girly girl- that would be serious estrogen overload and i wouldve had morning sickness and all the bad stuff.....OR, if i had been having a boy, i wouldve been sick, bc it wouldve been overload on boy hormones.....

kinda make sense, i think......anyone else like this at least????

Re: People who've said you're definitely having a boy or girl...

EVERYONE told me that I was having a boy (we didn't find out either) and I actually had no doubt in my mind that I was going to have a boy.

When my water broke 3 weeks early, DH and I were going over the girl's names list in the car on the way to the hospital. We had never agreed on one and thought that we had plenty of time to decide - and I was having a boy anyway right??

Wrong! DD was such a shock that when the Dr. said It's a Girl! My DH leaned over to look and said Are you sure??

It was really kind of funny and a total, total surprise!

Everyone was dead wrong with me! I was all belly, no morning sickness, my face didn't change, etc... everyone who would look at me INSISTED that I was having a boy. I didn't find out in advance, so I started to believe it too.

I had a girl! I no longer believe in any of those old wives tales!

Re: People who've said you're definitely having a boy or girl...

I was convinced I was having a boy, even though ALL my dreams were about a girl. I was pretty much all belly. But my face changed and most people told me that and said I was having a girl...

had a girl!! Chat Icon

The one thing that I did really believe was my accupuncturist. There are pulse points in your wrist that she had training to find and one wrist was faster. If your left is faster, girl, if boy, right. My left wrist was faster. She was right!

Re: People who've said you're definitely having a boy or girl...

We wanted to be surprised and I had tons of people telling me that I was having a boy because I had no morning sickness and was all belly. WRONG!! Sabrina is 100% girl. She is flirty and has long eyelashes and overall is just girlie even at almost 6 months old.

For me I found that the people who predicted early in my pregnancy before I started showing said girl and those who waited until I showed said boy.

With my 1st - most everyone swore girl based on my pregnancy. Mostly wives tales stuff - sick thru out the entire pregnancy, weight gain all over (although I did wind up with a basketball belly), etc. I had a boy.

This time I had the wives tale boy pregnancy and was all belly and many said a very pointy belly - and again a boy.

two different pregnancies - same sex.

Most people said I was having a girl the first time and they were right. I never asked why.

This time, they all guessed boy and we're right again. They based it on how I carried. They disregarded my bad skin and super shiny hair and focused solely on my belly.

Oddly, I thought I looked the same both times.Chat Icon

I took one of those online "quizzes" based on old wives' tales and it typically came up anywhere from 50-50 to 70-30(in favor of a girl, but I had a boy). I guess no one really knows, but it's eerie how some get it dead on and are really adamant and right.
