"Per diem" daycare?
Is there any daycare centers that do "walk ins" for 1 day once in a while?
I have heard of one by Melville/Farmingdale but don't know the name it and not sure if they still do it.

I know Babylon Childcare center does it... I believe the rate is $8.50 p/h.

Thanks for the info. I would love for it to be near me in Hicksville.
I am sure other moms might be interested too even SAHM moms who can't have a babysitter on a short notice.

Bright Horizons in woodbury has it (backup childcare) for $90 a day.
I would love to know about a more reasonable place in the Melville area.

Good to know about! I didn't even know this option existed. I should check out the place in new Hyde Park. I may have lots of doctor appts. coming up also and DH can't always take off work for them (DS is too unpredictable--sometimes he's fine for them, sometimes he is really fussy and bored).

Calling All Kids Again in Melville also offers backup daycare for $75/day/child.
