Personal Grooming Question

Ok, I know this is a rdiculous question, but for those of you who go bare, do you feel weird at the GYN? I always feel like I need to "let it grow" a little before I go.

Re: Personal Grooming Question

I actually try to be more manicured for the gyno. I mean, if I had that job-- the less hair the better IMO!

Re: Personal Grooming Question

i have experienced this issue from both sides, as both the doctor and the patient. from the doctor's perspective, i will tell you this - i have ZERO recollection of particular patients' grooming habits. it's not like i even notice them and then forget - i actually don't notice them to begin with. when i am doing a pelvic or rectal exam, my goal is to do it as efficiently (for me) and as painlessly (for the patient) as possible. i couldn't care less what their vaginas/rectums look like.

you would think i would learn from this and be more lax when it comes to myself, but i must admit that the grooming issue crosses my mind all the time. i made sure i was...um... "groomed" before getting my ovarian cyst checked out last week Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: Personal Grooming Question

I also try to be super manicured for the gyn...I always shower just before I go and put on nice Bath and Body Works lotion...LOL...and I make sure I shave, of course!

I think they probably prefer bare. I'm not a Brazilian person, but I definitely keep it neat!

Re: Personal Grooming Question

Just think for those of us who put forth an effort for good grooming, whether bare or not, there are many more women who don't. My doctor deserves to have a pleasant work environment and I am more than willing to provide that for him.

I always ask for an appt the first thing in the morning or I make sure I can work from home that day so I can shower before going. I cant imagine working with smelly snatches...Chat Icon Chat Icon
