Pet Related Vent
We have 2 dogs. One big one my DH had before me and our little one.
I don't know if it's because he's not relly "mine" or if it really is just him but ever since pregnancy I cannot stand the big dog. I want him gone but that is totally not an option. He's dirty (he eats poo if I don't watch him outside, sheds uncontrollably, and slobbers), he's spiteful, and he gets into everything. Oh yeah, and he's 8! Does anyone else have less patience for an animal being pregnant? LIttle one gives me no problems at all. I don't know what to do. Talking to my DH about is not going to go over well. I pretty much won't even try. I just find myself wishing he'd disappear sometimes and I feel awful. I adore animals.

Re: Pet Related Vent
We don't own a pet, but we have the IL's Choc Lab this week, so I will feel free to put in my 2 cents on this one
I have ZERO patience for this dog. Between DD being such a brat this week and the dog shedding everywhere I am on the edge of really losing it!
I screamed at DH yesterday because when he drinks out of his bowl, half of it slobbers out of his mouth and onto the floor. Well, yesterday, I SLIPPED on it. I was so LIVID b/c the last thing I need to do it slip and fall being preggo!
I am trying to tolerate him, but I am NOT a fan of dogs

Re: Pet Related Vent
I'm an animal lover too.... but I also have limited tolerance of big dogs... they really DO mean well... it's just that they're clumsy... and what is cute with a tiny dog can become a problem with a big dog just becuase of size issues...
I think your pregnancy-related loss of tolerance likely has to do with how sloppy big dogs can be... and you are having an increasing drive to nest and make everything immaculate.
I think you SHOULD talk to your DH about these feelings, but not in the context of 'getting rid of the dog'... more in the context of how will the dogs fit in when the baby comes... I think you'd feel much better about your furry friend if he had perhaps a bit more restricted run of the house (away from the nursery, for example) and your DH is more vigilent about doggie responsibilities and perhaps additional training (don't eat that )
remember, that big oaf of a dog does love you! things will be good again after a few adjustments

I too am an animal lover- especially since I have a little guy of my own- Nathan my 12lb weiner dog. My brother in law who lives next door has a pit bull. The dog is still a puppy, but hes close to 60 lbs! He still thinks hes only 10lbs. This friggen dog jumps on me when I walk in the house, has to put his face on my lap when I am eating and his tail is like a whip - and hes always whipping it on my leg & IT HURTS!!! I have zero patience for him. I feel bad but I cant deal with him at all. I totally know how you feel. I dont even think it has anything to do with being pregnant. I'm personally not a fan of big dogs.
I can totally relate to what your going through.
