Petite Girls -> Where do you shop?
i have the HARDEST time finding pants and skirts that fit. BR, JCREW, AT, Express, and Gap are all too big on me. i used to wear their size 0's but it seems that the cut has changed. i have been forced to shop at children stores for pants now.
for all those that are petite and skinny (size 0) what are your staple stores?

Re: Petite Girls -> Where do you shop?
OMG I swear I was just thinking about posting htis! I'm having the hardest time too - everything just bags off of me, it's awful. those are the stores I shopped at as well and same here - they're either getting bigger or I'm getting smaller but either way they don't fit like they used to.
I never though of kids clothes, although I do have an azz so I'm not sure those would fit around that.
I'd LOVE to hear what other girls have to say about this.

Re: Petite Girls -> Where do you shop?
i SWEAR i have tried on at least 50 pairs of pants (trousers) this week and NOTHING fits. the only pants that i found that fit GREAT are long and lean jeans in size 0 from the GAP. although i would to wear jeans everyday, i do like variety.
i never really thought i was that thin (5'2" 95lbs) but apparently clothing maunfacturers feel otherwise. i have found that petite 0 fit better than regular 0 but they are too short.
i think i am going to head over to anthropolgie this week. i know their cut is smaller than most.
if all else fails, i will have to buy pants that somewhat fit and get them altered. what a PITA!

NY and Company has petite jeans and trousers that fit really well. Also, try Kohl's petite department.

Re: Petite Girls -> Where do you shop?
here is a PERFECT example. when the pants are too big and unflattering on the model, it is time to rethink the cut.
look how they slouch and gather under the left cheek. perhaps it is the pose she is in but IMO, they don't seem to fit/lay right. Image Attachment(s):

Re: Petite Girls -> Where do you shop?
I get my jeans hemmed too and sometimes trousers too if I find something I like a lot better in regular sizes. But, it's the full cut, not the length, that's so awful. It would cost me another $30-50 to get these clothes to actually fit me with alterations - that's just stupid!
The long and lean 0 fits you? Even that's too big on me, I have to wear a belt
I didn't know that kohl's had a petite department. I can try that I guess.

Re: Petite Girls -> Where do you shop?
TJMax has a petite section too-it's hit or miss, but I've picked up skirts and jeans there. I love Lord and Taylor's petite department-but I'm not skinny, I usually wear an 8 or 10 petite, so I probably have an easier time....

same here. if i have to get them altered, it would be the waist, the butt and the length. basically, a re-do of the ENTIRE pants.
you HAVE to try on a few pairs of the same size because they will ALL fit different. try the long and lean again in 3 pairs. i LOVE them.
BTW - the WORST store is Express. i had to ask the saleslady if the sizes were mismarked because the 0 in both cuts were HUGE.

I did this in Banana too. The girl looked at me like I was crazy and I was like "no, seriously - I have about 6 pairs of these at home (martin, petite 0) - these are so NOT a zero."

Their tops - depending on the maker - run a touch smaller (like Odelle)...but their pants are true to size and the length is actually pretty long.
I'm not a good judge for dresses and skirts - regardless of the store, I always need to buy those items a size smaller than everything else.

Re: Petite Girls -> Where do you shop?
Ok, I'm not really petite, but I am short, so I usually shop in petites for pants.
Petite clothes are smaller all over, so a petite 0 will be smaller than a misses 0, even if it is a shorter length pant. ( Like GAP, ankle lenght jeans--same as regualr size, jsut shirter inseam)
NY & company claims that their petite pants are petite all over, but I don't have to go up in a size with them, like I usually have to for petite pants.
You need a true petite line. Lord & Taylor has a good petit department. Also, mayeb Petite sophisic ate?

LOL. i gathered all my 0 Martin BR pants and threw them in the washer last night on a hot cycle and then into the dryer. they fit a little better but not perfect. i am sure i lost a few pounds but NOT enough that i now have to shop in the childrens department.
i can't tell you HOW many times i have asked the salespeople when they are going to bring back the "old" cut. same response EVERYTIME, "we haven't changed the cut, maybe you lost weight."

NO matter what length, they are STILL too big in the waist and butt.
and yes, i have been to petite sophisticate. skirts fit fine but not the pants. not to mention, i wasn't very impressed w/ the quality of their pants.

ditto and ditto! I was there last weekend in hopes that they would be the answer to all of my questions. Not so much I got a suit. The skirt sits lower than I'm sure it should since the waist is too big still but it's reasonalb.e the jacket is ridiculously big. the woman comes into the dressing room and goes, "Oh! Let me get you the next size down." And I just laughed and said, uh, it's a zero. She just shook her head and walked away.
I am thinking of trying lord and taylor sometime this week, just to give it a go. My SIL's mom is the teeniest woman ever and I'm pretty sure that's where she gets her clothes. But, she's like 60 so I have 2 options - dress like a grandma or wear clothes that don't fit

Re: Petite Girls -> Where do you shop?
Ann Taylor has a great petite department...I'm 5'4; size 0 (with Ann Taylor, not a 0 in other stores)...I'm borderline petite, some pants I get petite, some regular.
Sorry, I just reread your post and AnnTaylor is too big for you...I agree, their sizes are not true, I'm not a zero in a lot of other stores. Banana Republic is the same, I think that's the only other store I'm a zero in as well.

Or learn to sew! Lord & Taylor is good, b/c they have several different brands, unlike a chain store, so they will all be cut differently.
I found a better selection in the Manhattan store, as opposed to the one in Westchester.
A lof of the clothes are basics, good for work. So, it's not all Grandma, but it's nto exactly trendy.

Not to be nosy but are you less than a zero in other stores or more? I've heard Ann Taylor petite is great but that they, like Banana, et al, still run on the bigger size so the 0 is still too big...

I just edited my earlier post...no, I'm not a zero in other stores, but the Ann Taylor petite sizes seem more accurate, I'm a 2 in their petite and a zero in their regular pants. I'm a 2 in other stores (except Banana, which also runs big sizes).
You're not nosey at all , I put the info out there...not a problem.

Gap pants usually fit me the best, but I also shop at NY & Co and Macy's petite section. Although I just had to have 2 pairs of Gap dress pants hemmed (even the Ankle length was too long!). I had them hemmed to 27 1/2 inches. How pathetic LOL

since there seems to be quite a few of us, we should form a "pant size 0 swap" club.
