Petite Large = Regular Medium?
I bought this cardigan in Macys last year, not realizing it was a Petite Large:
The shoulder seams were a little off, and the arm length but otherwise I liked the cut and it's held up well.
Now I want to get another one but go with a non-petite size. I didn't see them in the store so I can't try on. In other clothes, I am sometimes a medium and sometimes a large depending on the maker.
I know I'm taking a chance but if you were me, would you order a large or a medium from the site? I know I can return, I just wasn't sure what makes a petite a petite besides the length.

Actually its in the shoulders and sleeve length as well that is different in petite sizes vs regular sizes. Also the arm hole itself is usually a higher up position (if that makes sense LOL) Im thin and tall so def not a petite size. I once bought a dress without realizing it was petite initially and it was VERY tight under my armpit and the top was totally off because it was cut higher and therefore my boobs didn't quite fit properly. That's when I realized the P on the tag LOL
I would probably go Medium with the regular size. I always feel a cardigan should be fitted and not too big because it can tend to look sloppy.

That is exactly what I'm trying to avoid. I used to have a lot of cardigans when I was an XL and liked them bulky. Now I want the opposite - I want a small taper at the waist.
Thank you for your advice!
