Petty in-laws rant
My in-laws came on Friday to visit. They mean well but they also do things that annoy me. I need to get this off my chest since my dh just says "that's the way they are."
They live in Massachusetts. Whenever they come visit they wind up arriving while we are at work. They asked dh for a key to our house so they can let themselves in. Do people that live out of state really need a key to my house?? When we are going out, they volunteer to lock up. I can lock up my own house.
I also have a narrow three car driveway. When they arrived the driveway was empty. They didnt pull their car all the way up and we were not going to use their car all weekend since they dont have a carseat in their car. I had to park mine on the street which is fine for once in awhile but it sat there all weekend and dh knows I prefer to have it in the driveway.
They know that Sydney doesnt sleep well or nap and that dh and I work full-time and are always tired. I would have thought that they would have gotten up with her at 530ish and let us sleep. No, my fil who doesnt work wanted to sleep in and my mil was recovering from a hand injury so I didnt want to leave her alone.
I have told them before that when we eat a meal we try to use as little dishes as possible to make clean up easier. Last night dh and I made dinner. We made salad and chicken teriaki. I thought the salad and the chicken could go on the same plate. No! We have to have a salad plate and a salad fork and then use a huge dinner plate for a small pile of rice and chicken. Then we have to use a separate glass to drink water from at dinner and then a different drink right after for dessert.
Sydney is one of three grandkids. I have told them before I dont like comparing the kids as they are all different. Do they care? No all weekend I had to hear -oh sydney does this, mark did never did this. Oh sydney uses a pacifier, oh Naomi wont take one anymore.
This morning dh and I had to take Sydney to daycare and get ourselves to work. They were going to hang around and wait for after rush hour to leave. But they still insisted in taking their shower's right away and then did not understand why we were rushing and they didnt have much time this am with Sydney.
I know in the grand scheme of things these things are small but they build up for me since I cant do anything about it.
Edited for spelling!

Re: Pety in-laws rant
I hear you - one thing is slightly annoying. Many things deserve a rant.
Just repeat "They're gone, they're gone"

Re: Pety in-laws rant
I cant totally relate, my inlaws are the same type too. They do and say same many annoying things, that seem insignificant, but after a few hours with them you want to pull your hair out.

Re: Petty in-laws rant
Be grateful they live in another state and not 30 minutes away!
You would think she'd be delighted that you actually cooked
