Pharmaceutical Sales Reps...how to get into it?
DH has a degree in marketing...
works in restaurants now with a sales job on the side.
interested in making a career move.

I looked into moving into this myself
the 2 main things
1. college degree
2- Business to Business sales experince
#2 stopped me at every company

You definitley need a degree, you also need to have some B to B sales exp or a medical background/degree.
They take a lot of people with copier/office equip sales, he should try to get that experience first..

Yes & Yes.
I work for a pharma co. and a friend of mine who worked with me in marketing wanted to get into the sales end of the biz. No joke, she started selling Arbonne (sp?) cosmetics which got her foot in the door with a division of Pitney Bowes. After being with PB for maybe a year, she got a sales rep job with GSK.
FTR, she has an english degree.

My brother works for Forest as a rep...he started at WB Mason as a rep...did that for 1 year, then was hired by Forest. He has a degree in Communications and Marketing. He went through a recruiter when looking to move to pharmaceuticals as well.

I know some pharmaceutical reps. They all have 4 year degrees and most of them have additional medical training. Many of them also had personal recommendations from people who were already in that field.
