Phone vs Email

I am unsure how I feel about emailing people back and forth. It seems like our phone rings alot less bc we are always planning to go out through emails. I miss that one on one conversation and seeing how people are doing and vice versa. Does anyone else feel like this? In particular my in laws see how we are doing through emails. I think its terrible but I wonder if this is what our future will be.

Re: Phone vs Email

I do miss more 1:1 talks BUT i have to say. It makes it a lot easier to keep in touch with IMs and emails with OOT friends and family...

I wouldn't have been able to stay very close with my best friend in LV without this...

Re: Phone vs Email

since I am on the phone at work all day, I like emailing people... I am just too tired to talk on the phone and I get quite annoyed when the phone rings when I am at home.. it is different when I am home on the weekends, then I like to call friends and family and have longer conversations with them...

I'm not a Big phone person, but I do feel like e-mails have made it easier to communicate. Also...who writes letters anymore???

I do, I write letters to my family in Poland all the time... my grandma waits for them!

Re: Phone vs Email

I think that from talking to clients on the phone all day and with people at work it is easier for me to email friends/family.

It is a great way to keep in touch and talk. I email with three of my cousins every day and it is nice to be able to see what's going on with them - whereas if we were to talk on the phone it wouldn't be possible.

I even like text messaging now over talking on the phone these days. Chat Icon

I also like the text meassaging system because at least I feel like I am talking to someone. When I read the emails 4hrs later the problems are already solved. Dont get me wrong, I love the emails because I dont like the phone SO MUCH. I do sometimes wish that our phone would ring more. especially from direct family members. Its so not personal anymore.

Re: Phone vs Email

I too am also on the phone with clients 90% of my day and the last thing I want to do is talk on the phone. It is so much easier to e-mail & IM without it I probably wouldn't talk to my friends half as much.

I am the same way. On the weekends I don't mind being on the phone so much. But my weekdays are so hectic that nothing annoys me more than a ringing phone when I walk in the door from work.

I much prefer emailing for keeping in touch with the OOT relatives and friends. With the occassional phone call, it works out fine.

I am not a big phone person myself. I enjoy the email, the IMs and the Chat Rooms my friends and I create. So much better than making a zillion calls to plan whats going on "this weekend".
I also found friends from HS via other message boards and are able to keep in touch a lot easier through the lovely invention of

Since the phone sounds kind of exhausting for everyone after a long day....How do you feel when someone has a problem or a problem with you? I mean I truly hate getting into arguments on the internet because writing can be tough to read into. Sometimes I think it can cause further problems because people get the wrong impression of what you are trying to say.

Re: Phone vs Email

I do miss the phone calls we used to do much more of! I would talk to friends instead of email AND while home for Christmas my parents gave me boxes and boxes of letters friends wrote to me in college...long letters not like the emails of today!!!

I HATE the phone. I would much rather 'talk' over email.
