photo experts....updated with pics...
I have a picture of a flower that I took and want to crop into quarters and have each quarter printed 8x8 and then frame each picture and hang on the wall to form one big picture.
My question is: How can I crop the picture and keep the resolution high enough to get a clear photograph? I tried it over the weekend and had the pictures printed and they were all blurry and you couldn't even make out that it was a flower (and I wasted $7 ).
Any help is appreciated!!

Re: photo experts....
You would have to take the photo with a camera that has a high resolution. My camera takes pics that can be blown up to 20X30 poster size? How many megapixels is your camera? it might be too small for your project.

After looking it up, I think it goes up to 2560x1920 megapixels but I think the picture was taken at 640x480 megapixels. Is it too late to do this project if I already took the picture?

I think so ... you can't increase the resolution of a picture once its been taken. Blowing it up to that size, the photo will be "pixelated" (meaning you will see the dots used to create the colors of the photo)

Re: photo experts....
I don't know how to explain this right but when you crop the pic did you choose the size of the pic first vs just cropping it any which way. I once cropped a pic because I didn't like what was in the background and when I printed it (without enlarging it just 4x6) it came out blurry. I later learned there is an option of choosing the size of the pic you want then cropping it. If you haven't tried (if you understood what I meant.) its worth a shot.

I was actually playing around last night and I found a way to crop the picture and then resize it to the size I want and keep the pixels pretty much in tact as far as I can see (at least when I went to order it from Costco it is no longer coming up that the resolution is too low for the picture). I am going to try and order them soon. I posted the pics below. Do you think they look too blurry?
This is the original picture:
