Photographer price for a small event , if you had one and hired one please answer few questions for me
My FIL is getting married in Aug. they are having a small party , around 45-70 people at a local restaurant. They are looking for a photographer to take few pictures only at the restaurant, not at the ceremony, maybe 2hrs or 3 hrs. They kindly asked if I would help them find someone .
I haven't even started looking yet but wanted to ask, if you used one who did you use?
How much did they charge and how many hours?
Did you get a CD ? and how many pictures did you get for the price?

I know a lot of photographers will charge similar to what they would for Christenings and birthdays and other like events so if you have someone in mind, check out their pricing for something like that. A photographer I know charges $500 for up to 4 hours for events. You get a CD/private online album with photos. Not sure how many pictures you'd get with the package though. HTH!

thank you, my main thing is amount of pictures, ex. today one photographer said 350 for 2 hrs and minimum 50 pictures , she said it can be as many as 100 or more. another said 350 for 3 hrs and 50-100 pictures.
not sure if that's good or too "few"

Look at a blogged event to see what the photog does and not just a few good images they might have up on a main site. As far as image count its hard to say since more formal images lessen the image count, as well as what is going on. If everyone will sit and eat for two hours and you're not going to want 150 images of people eating.
