photoshop people..need help
I have a picture and someone requested for me to shrink it down to 300dpi
I thought 300 DPI meant 300 dots per inch and was a term used to describe printer capabilities.
Am I wrong? or I am missing something?

Re: photoshop people..need help
dpi does mean dots per inch... it has to do with the image size
go to image, image size and you can change the dpi there...

Re: photoshop people..need help
I do, I do need more help. Is the correct way to change it under Pixel Dimensions in the image resizer box?

Re: photoshop people..need help
I have found that people use the terms dpi (dots per inch) and ppi (pixels per inch) interchangably. If I remember correctly, the pixel is a square around the "dot". I would change it to 300 pixels per inch which I believe is the standard print resolution. I hope that helped.

Re: photoshop people..need help
Sorry, I just read your other question. If you go to image size and change the pixels per inch there. Just make sure that you constrain proportions (I think that's what it's called) so you don't distort your picture.

No!!
in the image size box go to the area under document size
where it says resolution, change that number to 300
If you want the actual size of the photo to stay the same make sure that you put a check in the resample image box... if you want the size of the image to change with the resolution, uncheck the resample image box
when you are making the resolution of an image smaller... you can make the image size bigger without compromising quality... if you are making the resolution of an image larger, you must make the image size smaller to keep the same quality (to do this make sure the three boxes have that linked icon to the right of them)
hope this helps!
