Photoshoppers doing announcements, invitations, cards etc.
I just wanted to point you towards a few sites I found for cool backgrounds, elements, fonts & doo-dads for your announcements.
Be sure to check out the freebie download sections. I found some cute ones.

As crazy as this sounds I'm downloading the christmas card papers & elements since they're free now but may not be in November/December when I do my cards.

Can I use these if I don;t have photoshop? Just in the program I use? Usually picture it.

I'm not familiar with Picture It. You could use them in Word too.
What the heck are you worried about? Aren't I doing your Christmas cards?
