Physical activity and BFPs
So, clearly I'm new to this whole TTC thing. I take an intense dance class 2x per week and I was wondering if it safe to continue to do if (and when) I get a BFP. I know I'm getting a little ahead of myself, but I was curious. TIA!

Re: Physical activity and BFPs
It's something I have always wondered since I am a runner and workout 6 days per week. What I was told is that you can continue to do things that you were doing before - obviously, there are some limits. For example, I probably should not run a marathon like I did last year. But I might be able to run, just not as long or hard. The key is not to let your heart rate get up too high; if you are not getting oxygen, neither is the baby.
The best advice I could give is to speak to your doctor when the time comes. I think it would depend on the level of intensity and what muscles are affected. Chances are, you will be able to dance, you might just need to modify it. Maybe the instructor can go over low impact versions of the moves. Best of luck to you

Re: Physical activity and BFPs
My doctor said to keep up my normal routine when we were trying. Also, when you get PG, it helps if you were working out beforehand so you can pretty much continue working out (just lightening up a bit) bc they say not to start something new when you get PG? KWIM?

Re: Physical activity and BFPs
We weren't trying when I got PG but I was doing a ton of classes at the gym and a lot of house work (painting, climbing on the roof to rip off shingles, siding the house). I was doing all this and PG but didnt know yet. So I think you can at least maintain you normal routine.

Re: Physical activity and BFPs
You can continue, but it will typically become a bit modified as time goes on. Always check with your doctor once you get your BFP as every woman is different. But as you are TTC, it is good to be doing our normal activities.
