Piano lessons for toddler
Can anyone recommend a piano teacher for an almost three year old?
My daughter started watching the Trebellina music teaching DVD when she turned two (it was a cool birthday present!). Anyway, she has learned to read music and is definitely ready to start lessons.
The problem is that most teachers will not start with a student until six or maybe five years old.
We are in Huntington. Any referrals will be greatly appreciated.

Re: Piano lessons for toddler
That's awesome!!
My DS will be 5 this summer and we're looking into lessons for him (at his request ). Anyhooo, I've heard really good things about "Frank and Camille's", but haven't called them yet. They start as young as 3, though.

Re: Piano lessons for toddler
Well, personally, I teach flute, so I can't help you with the piano lessons, but I've started students as early as 3 on flute, so I can't see why anyone would say no to a toddler. I know of group classes on piano for young children, but I don't know if that's what you're looking for. Are you open to a high school student? If so, call the local high school and ask them for recommendations, you may even be able to get it for free. I used to teach for free in high school, so it's worth a shot. I would also give Stony Brook University's music department a call. They keep lists of private teachers. Also CW Post should do that, as well. HTH!

Re: Piano lessons for toddler
I've played piano for over 20 years and if Jared wants to, I will teach him to play.
Isn't 3 a little young? Piano is very difficult.

Re: Piano lessons for toddler
3 is fine for them to play piano. They start violin at 3, as well. As a professional musian and music teacher, I say expose your child as soon as they're interested!

I know there is a conservatory in Albertson that will take 3 yr olds, but that is quite a hike for you. FM me if you want the info.

We've been looking for a Suzuki trained teacher for Cole - he just turned 3 as well. Let me know if you find anyone.
