picking a cord blood company
I dread this.... It's such a commitment to put your faith in one company, and it's not like you can look them up on consumer reports 
there's one website (here) that is unbiased and provides basic info (cost, company background, # of transplants) but that is IT.
From reading that chart and the company bios, I'm leaning towards viacord, but also am debating cryo-cell.
being a former cell culture researcher, I was more impressed with viacords scientific developments / collection process.... but you're only reading a blurb written by the company... viacord is about $500 more 
what info are you using to make your decision?

We are going with Viacord because they are one of the biggest ones. They are a publicly traded company. They do a lot of research. I know what you mean about it being a big decision.

Ditto, we felt comfortable that they do research and seem to be well established. My doctor also recommended them as # 1 in his opinion.

yeah, both viacord and cryo-cell have been around a long time, have success records with transplants and do research. Viacord is a larger company, and I believe has more marketing to Dr's offices...
We'd probably be comfy with either company, but I still feel like I don't have enough info
I hate committing with so little info........

We used CBR and are very happy with them.....I basically interviewed them over the phone followed my gut based on their "credentials" ...Good Luck !

we went with viacord, because they do research and are on the cutting edge. my doc was also for them as well.

My DH and I went with Viacord. We were impressed with their storage facilities, the collection process, and their research. It is hard to choose but we just felt most comfortable with Viacord after looking into other companies.

We are using Viacord. I told them when I called that I had seen a coupon in my Dr's office for $250 off and she said they would honor it, even though I did not have the coupon. My Dr. recommends them as well.
