places for cocktail party?
I've decided a cocktail party is the way to go for my parent's 60th bday party. (Thanks for the replies!) Now I am looking into places to have it... It may be at their house, but I'm trying to explore all options since I have a lot of time to plan. Anyone know any places that could be rented for a cocktail party and not a full reception/party with a meal? All ideas appreciated!
Thanks!

Re: places for cocktail party?
I went to a 60th b-day party at someones home and they did "casino night" with funny money (they plastered his mug on the fake bills )
They hired dealers and rented slot machines. The male and female that ended up with the most money won a prize.
They also had it catered and hired a someone to do the setup, serving and cleanup.

Re: places for cocktail party?
Thanks for the replies... Suffolk, preferably. Nassau is doable, but only if it's fairly close to Suffolk.
The casino idea is cool... I might think about that.

Re: places for cocktail party?
We had DH's 40th B-day at the Main Event in Plainview. We did a buffet/cocktail party. The food was fabulous, the bar is fully stocked with top shelf liquor and the staff and service was the best. We go there for dinner about 2x a month.
Speak with Alex-owner. He put together a great package for us. We had about 35 people but the room/area can hold about 50-60.
Good luck.

Re: places for cocktail party?
I had my sisters Bridal Shower as a cocktail party at City Cafe in garden city. We had hors'devours (sp?) and cocktails for 45, and it was perfect!

Meehan's in Huntington Village. It's a pub/restaurant, but they have a private room.
Blue Honu is great, but it gets very loud in there and I don't know if I would consider it ideal for a "60th B-day Party".

Thatched Cottage maybe?
That's a good one.
You may want to look into the Mill Pond House as well, which is next door to the Thatched Cottage (well, technically there's a mexican restaurant next door )
