Re: Planet Fitness
I didn't like it at all. Because it was so cheap it was very overcrowded with alot of kids and teenagers. I was always waiting for a machine. It's definatly not for someone who is seriously into fitness. No one there knew how to even use the machines properly! They didn't have a space to free excercises (only a small space). No medicene balls, core balls, jump ropes, etc.

Re: Planet Fitness
I have no problem with pf. Sometimes the parking lot at my pf is crazy but no probs with the staff or the machines. Mine doesn't have a lot of kids mostly buisness people.

Re: Planet Fitness
I really like the Planet Fitness near me. I go to the one on Westchester Ave in the Bronx. It is really clean and just recently got a bunch of new machines.

Re: Planet Fitness
I loved the one I was a member of down here in NC.....mostly people in their 30's.....never a wait.....spotlessly clean. I only stopped since I bought an elliptical last year. Liked that gym ALOT.

Re: Planet Fitness
i joined PF and tried it out for about a week last year and didn't end up liking. it was almost always crowded (unless i wanted to workout at 1am-- not happening!) and they didn't have a variety of machines that i liked and would always end up waiting to use a machine.

Re: Planet Fitness
My dh was a member last year. He had no complaints except it was too far from home and he was using too much gas.

Thats funny, because I was a member of PF and I am seriously into fitness.
I wanted a gym that was not pretentious like many gyms I have been to, and I am a runner and needed a gym for the treadmills, ellipticals, and weights. The only down side I noticed was the lack of group classes, but at the point it suited my needs, which was training to run a half marathon when the weather was bad, or I had a non running day.

Re: Planet Fitness
I tried it and hated it. Too many people. No parking. And they served pizza once a week! Why??????? You work your butt off and then you walk out and see and smell pizza. And Like another poster said, you have to wait forever for a machine.

Re: Planet Fitness
I belonged to the one in Centereach and loved it! I used to go early in the am (5am) and there were never kids or a wait for anything. I wish they would build one here in Patchogue.

Re: Planet Fitness
I think it depends which one you belong to. Mine gets busy between 4-6 pm. but I never have to wait for a machine (other than the first week of Jan). I feel like a wide range of people go to mine.

Re: Planet Fitness
I also agree it depends on which location that you go to.
I have been going to my location for a couple of years now. If you don't mind that there are no classes, it will work for you.
About the pizza they serve on certain weeks...you don't have to eat it. Just disciplne yourself.

I agree. I am a member and Im very into fitness and I joined this gym for the same reason. While it is true that there are many people that go to pf who are not serious about working out, there are many who are. I too was training for a half marathon (until my pregnancy).
I do have to say that I don't like pf. It's too crowded, no classes, not a lot of ab machines/exercises. The area to work out your stomach was too small. I hate how people don't wipe down machines after using them and I find some gyms to be unsanitary. I actually can't wait to join another gym. For 10 bucks a month you certainly do get what you pay for.

Re: Planet Fitness
I don't think the comment about people that go to Planet Fitness don't take working out seriously. At my meathead gym, I find the same thing. However, the part where another poster says that some gyms are unsanitary and this is one of them- I def agree. My gym ensures that all machines are clean. The guy walks around cleaning all day. most people are good about wiping down the machines. i rather pay the 35 bucks per month to ensure a quality, clean gym.

Re: Planet Fitness
I like it, for the money you can't go wrong. They have alot of machines, I never have to wait for a machine no matter what time I go - but if you like classes forget it, they don't offer any...
ETA: I just saw some of the other comments, and I have to say my planet fitness has an entire upstairs area for doing free range excersises, they have balance balls, jump ropes, mats for doing abs etc.
Also mine is very clean. There is always someone walking around she is dusting and vaccuming constantly and everyone cleans their machines after using them.
These places are individually owned and operated so I would go in there and take a look and see for yourself what you think...
