Planned c section
Can someone give me the breakdown. What to expect? Spare no details!!!
Last time my CS was not planned so I imagine it was quite a different experience.

Re: Planned c section
My second c was planned
It was like checking into a hotel. No chaos. No panic.
As much as I would've liked to have gone into natural labor, I'm not sure my husband or I could've handled the frenzy
We checked in Dr talked to us (bs-ing, really) Wheeled me in Drugged me Reassembled Here's your munchkin!
lol
Recovery was easier for me too. I was walking around maybe a day later
Much much different from my first where I was induced , oxygen mask, vomitting, actual pushing and then getting a c section !

Planned c section
I actually woke up to my water breaking the day before my section so they had me come right in. Checked in, nurse came checked me, put monitor on. Saw the fluid and said yep, your water is broken. Doctor checked, signed a bunch of papers. They asked if I wanted to labor, I said no

The epi and off we went. Boring! Lol
Two hours later I was xmas shopping on my phone in recovery. I'm not crazy, they just didn't give me her right away bc of monitoring.

Re: Planned c section
My 2nd and 3rd were planned. It's so nice not to have everything be completely crazy and people running around.
They'll have you come in early and get hooked up to monitors. Then they ask you a million stupid questions. If you're lucky you'll be able to go in pretty soon after that. If you're not you may have to wait for other sections to be finished first. That happened to me with DS3. I was scheduled for 8am and didn't actually get in the OR until noon. It was torture.
Anyway, once you get in the OR they do the spinal, lay you down, and off they go. It takes no more than 10 minutes to get the baby out and another 10-20 to get you put back together.
Then you go into recovery for 1-2 hours and off to a room.
Obviously a c-section is not easy, but a planned one is so much better than having one after a long labor like I did with DS1.
Good luck!

Planned c section
I was scheduled and then went into labor the week before. I got to the hospital, they checked me said I was 4 cm and she was coming that day. Asked if I just wanted to labor and get the epi, I said hell no. Got into the OR about an hour later. Did the epi, brought DH in and she was out within 15 minutes. They wiped her off and put her on my chest where she hung out until they finished gluing me back together. Then they weighed/measured her before we left the OR. She was wheeled to recovery alongside me and stayed with me until we got a room. She never left my sight once.
It was awesome and I would never dream of having a baby any other way!

What hospital was this? This is my dream for dd to be put skin to skin immediately and kept with me to BF but I'm afraid I'll get resistance. I'm at Huntington hospital.

NSHU. The OR nurses and anesthesiologist were wonderful. I actually wasn't even expecting it.
If there are no issues with the baby (or you) I can't imagine anyone would have a problem as long as you tell them beforehand.
Good luck!!!!!

That sounds great! I'm delivering at NSUH too. Thanks for sharing your experience. The whole surgical aspect of a cs scares me a little :(

I delivered at Huntington in July and they gave me the baby immediately. I was shocked because they didn't do it with ds2. They did eventually take him for a little bit for testing but then brought him back to recovery.

Planned c section
NSUH didn't give me my first ds right away BUT I was somewhat "drugged up" and he had some fluid in his lungs and had to spend a few hours in the nicu. I didn't hold him until I was out of recovery :/ but on the bright side, he had no issues bfing.

Planned c section
I had a planned c section! So civilized just walking into hospital, walking into OR and chatting with doctors, etc. I was able to do skin to skin right away as well (I delivered at Mt. Sinai) and was breastfeeding as soon as I go into recovery.
Just a recommendation--and it may not be as possible if you have an older child but do something nice for yourself the day before! I went and got a blow out so that my hair looked gorgeous for the whole hospital stay

Ugh, that was my plan too! I also had a pedicure and waxing appt and was apologizing in the OR. I kept saying "I'm so sorry, I didn't know she would come early!"

Planned c section
My second was planned. We had my son's Pre-K graduation in the morning and then went to the hospital. Busy day! LOL
We walked in, checked in, signed papers, I walked into the OR, they numbed me and then brought my husband in. She was born within 15 minutes I believe. I had a really good experience and my recovery was fantastic. I took no pain meds besides motrin for my whole stay pretty much. I felt like myself right after my staples came out a week later.
