Planning a road trip, what expenses am I missing??
We're talking about driving from NY to SC. We're planning to do it in 2 days (b/c DS will be with us- he'll be 3 1/2).
I am trying to calculate the estimated travel costs.
These figures are EACH WAY
Gas: $131 (calculating at 870 miles, avg 20 mpg and avg $3/gallon)
Tolls/Bridges (w/ EZPass) $41
Hotel: $60 (I've found a few in this range around Rocky Mt, NC)
Meals: $60
I plan on buying snacks and stuff before hand to have in the car, but I'm sure we'll stop for meals (lunch/dinner on day 1 and b'fast day 2).
QUESTIONS (1) Am I missing anything?!?!?!
(2) Are these estimates reasonable??
TIA!!

I would budget more for the hotel in case the ones you saw online are not so nice in real life.
I would also double check that your EZPass is valid for the whole trip. I don't know if some states use other types of passes.

I agree about the hotels. Definitely check out reviews on Trip Advisor, that site is great.

It works for the entire trip.
