planning ahead - Suffolk County Hospitals

DH and i are most likely moving to Suffolk County very soon (within the next couple of months)

so when i get PG with #2 i won't get to deliver at south nassau in oceanside which i LOVED.

are there ANY hospitals in Suffolk that only have private rooms? or a large # of private rooms where getting/paying for one won't be a problem?

i was totally spoiled and there is no way that i would ever share a room for any future pregnancies. Chat Icon

Stonybrook has only private rooms. I heard they recently redid everything too.

I too am delivering at Stony Brook. They have private rooms and bathrooms as the previous posters stated. And the maternity area is completely redone. We are going for our hospital tour on Sunday. I can't wait to see everything.

DW delivered at StonyBrook as well, before the new maternity wing. Even so, they had private rooms.

Plus, it has one of the best NICU units in the region. Hopefully you'll never need it, but it's comforting knowing that it's there.

This is why we chose a doctor who will only deliver at SB!

Whoo hoo can't wait for you to move ot suffolk! You'll be happy!

NSLIJ (south side hospital) is another great hospital and nhas a great maternity ward.

The only suffolk hospital that gets a bad rep is Brookhaven, all the rest and wonderful!!!! So you really can't go wrong where ever you go.

St. Charles has private rooms that you have to pay for however..........that hospital is AMAZING!!! It was SO clean and everyone was wonderful. The food was awesome too!! I had an amazing experience there. I didn't pay for the private room however, it's a smaller hospital so it turned out that 2 out of the 3 nights I was there I had the whole room to myself. I LOVE St. Charles!! (It's in Port Jeff) Chat Icon

Brookhaven no longer has a maternity department. They send all of their maternity cases to Stonybrook.

Re: planning ahead - Suffolk County Hospitals

I delivered at Southside (& will again in 2 weeks)...they have about 10 private rooms. The nurses were awesome & I had such a great experience. They recently redid their maternity ward (a few years ago).
