Planning vacations while TTC.....
This is sort of a spinoff to what would you do (with the wedding scenario) but here is my question, you know how some doctors say you shouldnt fly when you're pregnant, is that only in the beginning and in the end that they discourage you from flying?
I'd say, just to plan away and then see what happens... Is anyone with me? Or do you not plan that far in advance? For example... This june i purchased tickets to go to Poland (2 months ahead) and my mom said.... But what if you're pregnant? And I said what if Im not. And I wasn't - so I guess this just goes to show you not to put your life on hold when TTC.
I'm just asking bc I'd like to plan a 1 yr anniversary trip to Hawaii in April and I'm wondering

I never heard about not flying in the beginning...I thought that you only weren't supposed to fly towards the end - just in case you go into labor?
I'm with you, though - I just keep living my life & haven't put anything on hold. Nothing will change for me until I'm actually pg again. In fact, back in August we booked 2 vacations that involve flying in the coming months. IMO you can't stop living just because you might get pg since there's no telling when it might actually happen...

Re: Planning vacations while TTC.....
I believe it's only later on that it is a concern.
However, if you start right away you would be 6 months, right ?
My only concern is that is a LONG flight. Especially at 6 months prego. 12 hour flight, you would need to walk the aisles every hour for your circulation.
I would probably start planning but not book anything yet.
something I found on the internet :
Flying in Early Stages of Pregnancy Flying in early pregnancy is safe. However, during the first trimester, the main concern over flying is making your pregnancy symptoms, like morning sickness, worse. (You may want to make sure you have a extra few sick bags nearby, just in case.) And a mildly stuffed-up nose on the ground could become much worse once you’re in the air.
Flying and Pregnancy: Your Circulation Many women report that their second trimester is when they feel the most comfortable. Your morning sickness is usually gone, your risk of miscarriage is significantly lowered and you have the least chance of going into preterm labor at this point. It’s no wonder many women take advantage of this newfound comfort and take to the skies. However, there are still some issues you need to be concerned about; namely your circulation.
Pregnancy can cause circulation problems in any women. It is also well known that when you are flying, you have an increased chance of developing a blood clot. Put the two together and there could be some problems. Pregnant or not, here are some tips to help keep your blood flowing:
Wear comfortable, loose clothing Invest in some compression stockings; these will help keep the blood moving from your ankles to your heart and lungs Avoid crossing your legs Drink lots of water to keep yourself hydrated One of the most helpful things that you can do to keep your blood flowing is to move around. Go for a walk in the aisle every hour. Every half hour, flex your feet, rotate your ankles and wiggle your toes. These are simple little stretches you can do right in your seat without bothering the person next to you. And if there is no one next to you, then put your feet up and enjoy the extra space!

Book it! I learned on my journey to mommyhood, not to let TTC control my life. In all honesty, you just don't know how long it will take to get pregnant. The beginning of each year, DH would say to me.. where are we going on vacation this year? And my response would be "I don't know, what if I'm pregnant" After a while, I had to just say I can't stop living my life by "what if"

Book it. I traveled with both my pregnancies to Mexico. 1st time I was 6 weeks PG and the second time I was 18 weeks. Minus the fact that I had horrible morning sickness we had a great time.

I agree....get insurance! I know through american express it's a little more expensive but they call it "bad hair day insurance" meaning you can cancel for any reason at all. Even if it's that you just don't want to go anymore. This way you can plan your trip but for some reason you don't feel you should go you don't lose your money, and you don't put your life on hold!

This is correct...and BELIEVE me - i've been reading the baby books...
You are FINE to fly until about 2 months before your due date. The reasoning is if something goes wrong (and by wrong i mean labor starts or false labor starts) - what are they going to do for you at 25,000 feet)... That is the ONLY time you shouldn't fly...

ITA! I only booked one vacation based on when I "thought" I would be PG - this was in the beginning of TTC.
Never again!!! I am dealing with IF so I just don't know when I will be PG. TTC and PG plays no role in booking my vacations. If I am fortunate enough to be PG, then I'll deal with the vacation situation then!

Re: Planning vacations while TTC.....
If you're having a normal pregnancy, you can fly up until some point in the 3rd trimester. I flew to CA at 9-10 weeks pregnant. The only issue I had was that I was more prone to motion sickness. I wouldn't put a vacation off b/c of what ifs. You can always get travel insurance and cancel the trip if for some reason you're unable to fly.

Re: Planning vacations while TTC.....
I would definitely book your trips. Even if you got pregnant, you would probably be in your first or second trimester. I would recommend getting trip insurance, just in case you are pregnant and not feeling well.
They recommend that you not fly during your first trimester because of miscarriage risk. The flying doesn't actually increase the risk. The doctors just suggest this so you will be in the comforts of home if miscarriage occurred.
I went on 3 trips during my first trimester. They were all booked prior to finding out I was pregnant. Costa Rica (weekend after I conceived - did not even know I was pregnant yet), Miami and Arizona.
I must warn you that many women do suffer from morning sickness. Both my trips to Miami and Arizona were miserable because motion sickness just added to my already awful morning sickness.
I just declined attending a destination wedding in Hawaii because I feel too sick to fly and I am in my second trimester.
